Even if I had a guide, I don't think I would have consulted it. What are the chances there was 2 different guys that played football? I have the 55 Topps AA Justice Byron R Whizzer White so I just figured it was the same guy. BTW, there's also a Bill Walsh in that same set who was a center, not...

Here's an oddball for you all. I picked this up for $7 (inc s/h), assuming it was the Supreme Court Justice. Imagine my surprise to discover there were two Whizzer Whites - and this is the other one! Oh well. It's a nice looking '54 Bowman common...

Below the Mendoza line (I think it should be renamed the Uecker line), and exactly zero home runs. Wow.

Did you ever get that batch of Topps Football '85s? I have a few. Were you also the one looking for some hockey, or was that someone else?

Trading Hobby supplies- Does anybody do that?

Hi - I don't grade - can't afford it - when I pick up cards at auction or at my LCS, they come in the semi-rigids. I transfer them into toploaders, which don't bend. So I have somewhere between 100 and 200 cardsavers that have basically only been used once, by the seller. I would gladly trade...

Not exactly sure what you mean. I have a pile of once-used Cardsavers (the ones people use to submit for grading). I myself use toploaders.

    NFL HOF Needs

I have quite a few of these but I fear you don't have vintage to trade for mine. RCs from the 59T set - Karras, Butler, Kramer, Mitchell, Sam Huff. Also 55T Benny Friedman, 67T Johnny Robinson. LMK if you've got vintage to trade.

I love that the Giants fielded an all Alou outfield in late '63. All 3 of them were great hitters and had very respectable, long careers.

That top edge may keep it from a 10, depending on the grader, who can be fickle.Even as a 9, it's pretty sweet.

Clemente? You mean Cepeda, Clemente and Aaron. I love these League Leader cards with 3 Hall of Famers. Here's another one like that - 4 HoF.

Looks like Tony Taylor had a solid career - over 2000 hits, over 1000 runs scored, 19 seasons. 2x all-star. Pretty good.

For 8 bucks (median price) there should be no reason you can't acquire it.

Two cards that are on my list to acquire are a Landry from his playing days (51 52 or 55 Bowman) and the Stram from the 60 Fleer set.

I read up a little about them. Apparently Landry was offered the head coaching job of the Texans and he turned it down. So then it was offered to Stram, who had coached at Purdue when Len Dawson was there and at Miami.

Yes, it's true he may have been a **** member in the 20's. There are rumors that Hornsby, Cobb, and Anson were too. But when Larry Doby came to the Indians in the summer of '47, Speaker worked closely with him to help him transition from 2B to CF, helping to turn him into one of the best in the AL.

I remember those. We used to call them perfos. I had a friend that had the whole set. That’s how we learned who all the stars of the early days were.
