Hi, y'all. I'm just a Florida Gators alum living in Tennessee, hence the screen name. I collected a lot from childhood to early adulthood (mid-'70s to early 90s), then boxed & bindered everything and put it all away - only to recently 'rediscover' them. Now, I'm hooked again but the card scene today is sure different from back then, so it's been a little intimidating getting back into the game.

I'm pretty much looking to sell the cards I don't want ( which is nearly all MLB and some 80s-early 90s NFL and NBA) and focus on rebuilding my Florida Gators PC (which was lost in a fire) and buying whatever else tickles my fancy.

Glad to be here! Looking forward to seeing y'all on The Bench.

Welcome to The Bench. I'm sorry to hear about the fire. It happened to me too. Fortunately, they covered my card rack, and the loss was small. Great title to the thread.

Oh man, I'm so sorry to hear about the fire. That is my biggest fear and has been for years and years.

I'm sure today's card scene is shocking to you. I've been collecting for forever and I don't recognize the hobby of today and the one from back in the day.

Welcome to The Bench and happy trading.

Intimidating I guess but many of us are old school and unaffected by the trends of today because for many of us,it's still a hobby. Welcome and hope you can rebuild your PC.

Thanks! I know the feeling, but good to hear your (financial) loss was small. It's the psychological loss that hits hardest.

It was (and even more so, is) my biggest worry. I even kept my cards at different places outside my house (one of them is where the fire happened). And you're right about the hobby today - seems like it's more about flipping current cards for profit than an actual love of collecting. It's all happening too fast.
