A certain someone here who is into stoner rock has Valley of the Sun on repeat today. He is "Riding the Dunes" in more ways than one. LMAO!!!

Edward Mark Vedder Stepnoski and I have several things in common. We are both Polish. Check. We are both conspiracy theorists. Check. And we both are 4/20 guys. OK as Meatloaf used to sing "Two out of three ain't bad". LMAO!!!

Wow I've never heard of them before... listened to Riding the Dunes just now and I likey. That drummer is wicked!
When I celebrated this holiday I'd have Tool on shuffle, with a bit of A Perfect Circle and Puscifer mixed in.
If I celebrated today I'd still have Tool as my go to, but listen to their entire library from start to finish. 7empest would be the best ending to a marathon like that I can think of... but by the time I got to it I might be too far in the clouds to concentrate! lol
Then when the sun was setting and I had my nap I'd be into James Taylor. You read that right... Tool, then James Taylor.

Love the color on these 58 and 59 topps. the centering (or lack thereof) kills me though
Centering issues plagued Topps right up through the 1980s and seemed to get much better in the 90s. It always is frustrating to have multiple copies of the same vintage card and find the ones that are centered well have corner issues and the ones with corner issues are off center. That pretty much explains why higher grade vintage cards command such a premium............ which is pretty much stating the obvious!

What I cannot understand is why certain cards are notoriously O/C, The 1979 Topps Ozzie Smith RC and the 1984 Donruss Joe Carter RC are two prime examples of that.

1981 Topps Kirk Gibson RC is like that too.........

maybe it is where in the sheet the card was before they cut it? Or which plants cut which sheets.

agreed though that the ozzie is a tough one to find in good shape.

Don't forget Eddie Murray's rookie is notorious for being off center also

I think you're right......Back in the day I believe they used a machete type cutter; now it's probably all laser cut...........

Ive only seen a modern cutting machine in use very briefly on our news in Arkansas when a local horse won one of the Triple Crown races and some company produced cards of his win.
You're right though, they put the full sheet on a big table type apparatus at an angle that looked about 20 degrees and the cutter comes down from above and zips across and down cutting out each card in about 8 seconds total. I don't know how they kept the cut cards from falling. Maybe some kind of vacuum on the underside... but ya, that's the only time I've seen one in use. If they only gave tours at the factory...
