What is that card going for now? I always thought that was an iconic card with Wilt, The Conquistadors and him listed as "Coach/center". Awesome!
My only specific memory of the Conquistadors (aka the Q's for short) outside of my obsessive reading of Basketball Digest and The Sporting...
Nice! I was shocked to see he kicked 2 50 yard field goals in 1958 which was no easy feat given the heavy uniforms and tough outdoor field conditions. So he was a fullback, end and kicker. Pretty versatile player!
Not only an old Eagle but an original Cowboy as well! He appears in the first run of Topps Cowboys in 1960 in an Eagles uniform and then again in 1962 Topps in one of the old awesome Cowboys unis of the early-mid 60s.
He just died a little over a year ago at the age of 91. Guess those...
Never heard of he Buffalo Braves before? I'm shocked!! LOL
The Braves became the San Diego Clippers in the late 70s who are now the Los angeles Clippers. The Braves were actaully pretty good for a while and actually had an NBA MVP in Bob McAdoo. Man, I can name more players off those...
Unlike you I am not a shallow person fixated on a woman's looks. As far as her looks (which count for nothing don't you know) the only thing I can say about them is......
And unlike you, , who bought Playboy for the quality photography, I bought that same publication for the articles...
Here is an interesting fact about Bob Lilly, that I did not know until just now. Besides being the world record holder in the helmet toss, he was the first draft pick in Cowboys history! He was drafted in the 1961 NFL draft which surprised me since the Cowboys first year was 1960. I looked...
he 1996-97 Stadium Club basketball was a rather unique set where there were no rookie cards in the 180 card base set but at least 3 insert sets consisting of the rookies in the 1996 Draft. There was the Rookies (series 1), the Rookies (series 2) and a Rookie Showcase. Your Ray Allen is from...
THat is a nice looking Bobby MItchell RC. I'd like to make an attempt to trade for that. You may remember wew made a pretty nice trade in late July/early August and I hope we can do that again. From the looks of your want lists, I should be able to help.
It looks like he is back this week which is fortunate for the Cowboys. It is do or die for your team today. Lansing Catholic's own Cooper Rush looks to be your QB for the rest of the season. I'm wondering why Rush did not go to Michigan State since he grew up just down the road from East...
Welcome to The Bench! I lived in Lebanon for about a year around 1984! I'll bet that town has changed drastically over the 4 decades. I absolutely loved that area and would have loved to have stayed there but I was transfered to New Jersey. I was on a 7 day on/mom and pop 7 day off schedule...
Michigan State's 2nd Pro Football Hall of Famer (after Herb Adderly) and a prominant member of Buffalo's Electric Company that paved the way for O.J. Simpson accomplishing the first 2,000 yard rushing season in NFL history.'
Wow! That is a NIIIICE item!! The only thing that would have made it better would be if Julius was pictured in an ABA uniform, Preferably the Virginia Squires but the New York Nets would suffice! Really great card!
If by "interesting" the fact he appears on a 1972 Topps high # , I totally agree with you.
After reading your post Ihad to look up his bio. If this guy only applied himself in school he may have amounted to something. Holy smoke, this guy has some AMAZING accomplishments!
I've always found this card and the corresponding Bob Hoskins 1974 Topps card quite interesting since the Hardman card looks to have been taken a split second after the Hoskins card. Everything lines up that Charlie Harraway of the Redskins is spinning away from the Niners defenders. Here...
I don't think I've made a horrible trade that I regret but I have passed on some what would be later considered steals of the highest order.
Mistake #1. At card show in Syracuse on the early '80s I passed on a ton of unopened packs of 1980-81 Topps Basketball at less than 5 cents each...
Oh yeah! That certainly looks to be gradeable! Can't wait until you find out what it gets.
This Banks card is a prime example of why I think the 1967 Topps is the best looking baseball set. Bright colors, simple design, not cluttered and it only takes a minimum of words to describe it...
