sometimes it's not easy being a player collector....

You would think that, but it's not always true. With Ted Lilly and Mark DeRosa (2 guys that don't have a very large hobby presence), I regularly run into bidders we will run up the price of their cards. Unless it is some Quad A guy that has 12 at bats or an inning pitched in the majors, you...

Like the concept and design of these: This is another card that I really like the design of and is really difficult to obtain:

Is Beckett.com being a pain for anyone else right now

What do you use then, smoke signals? Telepathy? I keep hearing everyone clamor for the days of "old" Beckett. You mean when you had to know the exact year/brand/set/card number just to figure out what you had? Or when you had to wait for the first week of the month for new pricing? Get real...

    Manufactured Patches/Bats/Gloves etc.

My biggest problem with these manufactured articles is that they are masquerading as the real thing. Letter patches as Lettermen cards. Hat patches as real logo patches. Fake bat barrels as the real thing. It takes away from the real items that these impostors are mimicking. I am proud to...

What do your parents/wife/husband..ect think of your card hobby?

My mom is the reason that I am into sports in the first place. So while she doesn't condone me amassing a collection, she does understand it. She also has a nice little memorabilia collection herself so she has no reason to throw stones from her glass house either. As far as the significant...

Is Beckett.com wonky for anyone else today?

I love that everyone calls for some sort of ban or boycott of Beckett. Please show me some sort of suitable, universal alternative. Don't worry, I'll wait...

The auto appears to be the same. The Premier is "#3" and both are 3 color patches.

Any Griffey out there? Drive for five (thousand ) NEEDS LIST INCLUDED

I have 1 game used and 1 auto. The game used is this: 2007 Upper Deck Premier Patches Dual Gold #KG Ken Griffey Jr./56 dual 3 color patches The auto I'm not sure of. It is an Upper Deck buyback on a 95 SP card. I have the COA card from Upper Deck.

    Hardest auto to get,..

Nomar is a tough signer. His last pack certified auto was released in 2006 and he only has roughly 190 autos total. Most of those autos are numbered to 25 or less. Frank Thomas was another that did not have a lot of autos as far as I can remember.

What's it worth? Strasburg/Harper -vs- Pedroia Superfractors -vs- 1/1 -vs- RC

To further clear up the RC mess, here is a simple guide. Anything that is a college set, USA baseball set or any other type of prospect set is consider not a "mainstream" release. Beckett only classifies cards that are MLB mainstream releases as official RC sets. Upper Deck Prospect Premieres...

enlighten me please. Why does this Arod road to 500 book so hi?

It looks like 76-100 were 1:36 out of Topps Opening Day. All book at $40. Probably due to market scarcity as Opening Day is not a widely broke product.
