I was using that statement as a general rule not the rule. I know alot of collectors have theme collections I know I do. I still will buy a pack that has rookies in it over a pack that doesn't every time. This is just me though not everyone.
Well the rookie card is the basic foundation of card collecting. That being said no rookie cards equals I won't be buying any UD baseball this year. I would buy UD hockey products though.
Just because the card says it's a rookie card doesn't mean it is one. The simple fact is it will never be a rookie card and the value will be affected down the road. Just my humble opinion.
