Drazen Petroivic - he was an incredible player - I saw him and Vlade in the Euro championships in about 1991 or so. Petrovic is in the Hall of Fame, mostly for his European and Olympics career.

Garo was the coolest dude. I knew him a little bit. He once let me and a friend come onto the sideline - don't remember if it was during or after a game. I was maybe 12. I know this is post a card forum but I'm gonna post a picture I took of him in 1970.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the first soccer style kicker was Pete Gogolak for the Buffalo Bills. Then came his brother Charlie, with the Washington team. And the next one was Garo Yepremian, who started in Detroit before becoming a pro-bowler with Miami.

Hey are you a collector of '59s? I am 4 away from completing the set + I have some nice doubles to trade.

Just thought I would add - I just bought tickets to go see the Cubs play the Dodgers at Chavez Ravine in mid-April - $115 per, loge level down the left field line + $35 for parking. I won't even tell you what they were asking for field level behind the 1B dugout !

Hornung is #5, Starr is #15, Jim Ringo is #51, Jerry Kramer is #64, Jim Taylor is #31, Max McGee is #85, Forrest Gregg is #75 Elijah Pitts wasn't on the team yet. I think Boyd Dowler wore #86 - but he was a rookie that year so it may not be him. I was looking for Nitschke, #66, he was also a...

1959, my friend, not 1958. I've been working on that set for a couple years now. Only 4 to go, as I mentioned a few posts ago when I showed my recent pickup of the '59 Paul Hornung.

I don't often like modern cards - players offset against fantasy backdrops - but this one is super nice.

Also very decent centering. A lot of '59s are off. I found it at one of my LCS. They had one which was soft, for half the price, but I avoid lowgrade, This one was $25, which was the limit I set myself for the card. They had a Starr, but so o/c it was miscut, so I'll keep looking.

I just won this at auction for $30. It's a 2nd year McCovey. His RC is out of my budget range, but I think I did pretty good with this one (it's my pic that's keystoning, the card is super sharp).

You're right, Budde should be in. And maybe EJ Holub, one of the last two-way players - Center and Linebacker - 5x all-AFL. It's no wonder they won a Super Bowl in 1970 against the mighty NFL.

How many HoF did they have? Dawson, Bell, Buchanan, Robinson, Stenerud, plus Otis Taylor and Jim Tyrer who are perennially on the Senior Committee ballot. (Tyrer would have gotten in years ago if not for the murder-suicide, which we now understand was likely due to severe CTE). And Coach Stram...

Unbelievably, Wilhelm didn't make it to the bigs until he was 29. Pitched until he was 49. Saves weren't a thing back then, but finishing was. He finished something like 650 games.

Look at his line in 1963 at the age of 42. 260 IP! 23-7 record. 2.60 ERA. Probably would have taken home the CYA, if not for a fellow named Koufax.

Nabbed this at auction for $6. The listing said it had a crease, but I scoured the pic closely and couldn't see one. Even though I don't acquire cards with creases, I figured I would take a chance, cuz really, for six bucks why not. I scoured it again when it arrived, still could not find a...
