I never noticed that before but on baseball cards I really never took note of the other players in the shot unless it was a Playoff/World Series card.. On the other hand, I always noticed the "other guys' in football and basketball cards. Topps must have shot their pictures from the...

Does that card command a premium because of Rose is clearly seen in it? There is a 1955 Bowman that does because Mickey Mantle is in the background.

My favorite set. Those Alou brothers seemed to make semi regular apearances on the League Leader batting average cards in that era. And a few years later Rico Carty won the batting title with a 366 aaverage. Weird how that particular stat stuck in my mind all these years later. A few...

Looking for a few vintage FB cards

Sure. LMK what particular baseball sets you are looking for and I'll check. If they are listed on your website, I can find the want lists there. If not, you'll have to post them here or PM them to me. Besides the 1979 Topps Football cards for you the folowing were in the same stack. If...

Looking for a few vintage FB cards

It looks like you are back in the tading game? I know you had to take some time away from the hobby. I have the 5 1979 Topps football you needed as well as some of your other need, You needed the Pats TL and Rich McGeorge from that set a few months ago. I should be able to help with...

HaHa! That explains the Judge error. Would not have guessed that was the reason.

A prime example of a player in the card collecting business that was considered a huge prospect but failed to live up to the hype. I won't say he became a "suspect" as he had a decent careerbut his cards did end up in commons boxes. One of the countless examples of why I caution against...

Judge? You have a special box that traveled in a time machine!! LOL The very underappreciated Irod is in there as well but I think that is at least one year before Jeter. You probably paid as much for that box as you would have for a single pack of current cards. Glad to see there are...

I was surprised to find out McDonald was the last non kicker/punter to play without a facemask. There was a video on Youtube about how the NFL was in 1968 and the showed McDonald with either the Browns or Falcons playing without a face mask, I had no idea anyone was playing without a face mask...

On the NYC cable stations it was a constant run of The Wiz and Crazy Eddie commercials. The jingle "Nobody Beats The Wiz" is permantantly burned in my mind. And Crazy Eddie's prices were "so low they were INSANE!". If mermory serves , the beer that sposored the Mets was...

My high school played his in football my senior year. We are only a year apart in age so I'm wondering if he was on that team? Wikipedia does not mention he played football in high school so I'm not sure. Curious about that though.

It looks like they did not teach reading in Upstate NY in the 70s. I totally misread that post thinkin it was about him being a Brewers player and missed the analyst part. Even Butt-head is making fun of me! I did however looki it up and he is the same Dave Nelson that played for Texas...

But that doesn't explain why the old school athletes speak so much better. It is really astonishing how much better the old guys spoke vs the players of today. Look at that article you sent me with the interview with Major Jones. That guy spoke the King's English and he grew up as a farm kid...

The Cowboys do have two first rounders ths year.....their own at #12 and Green Bay's at #20. They must have traded one of their 2027 first rounders to the Jets for that defensive lineman. That #20 pick for Dallas is a lot better than most people thought it would be after that Parsons trade...

I'd have been more impressed with the rare and evasive 1979 Topps Danny White #429 but that is a personal matter. LOL Today is your big day to see what you get from the Mitchell Parstones trade unless the Cowboys traded the Packer's pick for that D-lineman from the Jets. NFL Draft Day...

His fatal accident happened about 25-30 minutes from me. He lived on a private lake which I'm sure was waaaaay off the beaten path. He died in Johnson City, NY but that is where the hospital was that he was taken to after the accident as that occured in Port Crane.
