I had no idea Baseball Digest was even around any more. I used to have a subscription to Basketball Digest and I know I have the first issue of that around here somewhere. I used to love getting Basketball Digest and The Sporting News in the mail.

My Grandfather was a cartoonist and drew single panel cartoons for Baseball Digest in the late 40s.....he went on to work on the news editorial staff at the Chicago Tribune years later. He and my Grandmother, both deceased now, raised me and gave me the most special life ever!

Thanks for posting, I am going to see if I can find any of his cartoons, if it goes back that far!

    Blessings,

    Kevin

It goes back that far bro........My grandfather was a cartoonist for Disney back then, as a background person, not the cells..........Lots of work involved with those..........Have known a couple people who worked in that profession in the 1960's and 1970's............

That is so cool, I'm so excited, as I was able to find his cartoons in the September 1947 and January 1948 issues! Don Husch was his name.

That is a neat story too about your Grandfather being a background animator for Disney, those were truly the Golden Years of animation, must have been a truly exciting time to be a part of all that.

    Super cool, thanks for posting!

    Blessings,

    Kevin

Thanks David! I don't know if I would extend the subscription after the free trial........It's cool looking through all the changes in this medium over time; illustrations, photography, and even writing........
