I am working on this set, and am down to the SPs. I saw a box on the bay and threw an offer out. They took it and the box arrived yesterday. After a long morning at work, it was nice to see the package sitting near my door. I was only looking for the last cards for my set. The way the packs are loaded, you get a couple of inserts, a few base, and one SP. To my luck, I pulled 36 SPs that I needed for my set.
I also pulled a Jim Thome GU Jersey and a Ozzie Smith GU Jersey. The strange thing with these is that out of the 3 boxes that I have busted working in this set, this is the third Ozzie I have pulled, the exact same card. Weird.
Well, I was packing up the trash, putting my cards in the set and loading my doubles box, when I noticed the side of the hobby box. I didn't realize that this set had some autos. I took a look thru all of the base, looking for one. Nothing. No big deal, as I wasn't really expecting anything. Then as I was sorting thru my inserts, I noticed something a little strange. I saw what looked like one of those pre-printed autos on one of the inserts. Upon closer inspection, I did get one.

Bam! Not a huge Yankees fan, but an on-card auto from a scrub box and I am pretty happy.
Moral of the story, don't discount those older boxes! Some do have big hits left.
And if anyone needs any singles from this set, just let me know. I have lots.
Thanks for looking!
