I have been tossing the idea around of purchasing some 2011 Topps boxes when they come out in February. My daughter wants to make the base set of series one. I have a few questions for you guys and gals who crack boxes.

What’s the best bang for my buck? Reg hobby or Jumbo?
How many boxes does it usually take to make a base set?
What is a good price per box?
Should I get boxes via mail or card shows?
Any help to get this done would be appreciated. Thanks, Kevin in CT.

Jumbo all the way. More inserts and cards.

I bought a case of each last year and Jumbo got me more autos,Pie face and MCG stuff.

One box of jumbo should make a set.

Go to a card show so you dont have to pay for the shipping.

Thats only my opinion though. Try for yourself you may have better luck.

Take Care,
Mike

I always got the jumbo's because you were guaranteed 3 hits as opposed to 1 per each hobby box..................That was a couple of years ago though..............I always got them at the LCS to help the small business person, I usually paid about $100 per jumbo.......................Good luck with the break/s!

a fair price? abolut half of what ever Topps charges is about fair lol. as for where to get them if your lucky enought ot have a local card store then go there, that is if you feel you can trust them and not rip you off, because local doesnt always mean honest and helpful.

other options are
charmcity cards http://www.charmcitycards.com/
the topps store http://www.toppsonlinestore.com/servlet/StoreFront#
blow out cards http://www.blowoutcards.com/index.php?main_page=featured_products
dacardworld http://www.dacardworld.com/sports-cards/baseball-cards

but then again i get to pay shipping on all my cards becasue i have no local shops lol. plus these sites can give you a ball park on cost too.

and for card/case info here is a good link too.

good luck dave

I usually do at least 1 box of each. Jumbos are usually around $100 at LCS's around here and the Hobby between $55-70 depending on the shop. I did get more inserts out of the jumbos but I don't think I was able to complete a set with one last year.
