And I mean KNOW it, not knowing it by typing the question into Google.

There are three players who have hit 40 home runs in a season, but fewer than 200 in their career. Can you name them?

Thanks to joesportsfan.com for this awesome question!

I'll take a stab...I know it's pretty much impossible these days to run online trivia w/o a quick answer look-up threat.

Davey Johnson - He hit 40, but I suspect he fell short career wise
Brett Boone - Same, I believe
Would have to think on a last guess...

I am only using retired players too. If a rook or young player smashes 40+ HRs, it's likely he is not at 200 yet but may get there someday.

I am trying to look it up now...found 2 so far...still missing 1 unless he is active...

Mrmopar and criollos both correctly answered Dave Johnson. One down, two to go!

Hint: Neither of the remaining players were active in the 1970's.

Maybe Hack Wilson? I know he hit 56 one year but that he aslo had a lot of problems with alcohol so he probably didn't play long.

Just a guess.

That is a goodie. I think it will take someone who has heard this before or a trivia freak of nature to get all three!
