Hello all,

I have the opportunity to attend the Joe DiMaggio Legends game on Jan. 29th, 2011.
There will be at least 50 former players signing.
Here is the link:
http://www.legendsgame.net/game.html (click on roster)

Personally, I'm only trying to get one of each player, and in some cases, none, so here is what I am proposing:

If you have cards (unless other arrangements are made for another item which would have to be a pretty convincing case), I'd like to stick to cards or, index and such) of the following players who you need desperately signed. Send them to me with a SASE, and I will try to get them signed for you, and send them back, or at worst case, I just send them back unsigned.

Here is the list of players who are scheduled for 2011:
alex arias, bruce aven, stan bahnsen, paul blair, blomberg, bob bolin, ricky bones, dennis boyd, fred cambria, bert campaneris, rico carty, paul casanova, orlando cepeda (no)chris chambliss, doug clemens, tommy davis, andre dawson (no), orestes destrade, al downing, oscar gamble, wayne garrett, tony gonzalez, wayne granger, chris hammond, jackie hernandez, al hrabosky, willie horton, jay johnstone, darold knowles, ed kranepool, phil linz, elliott maddox, dennis martinez, rudy may, jim mcandrew, minnie minoso, rich nye, john o'donoghue, john odom, amos otis, fritz peterson, fred quilici, dennis rasmussen, brooks robinson(no), cookie rojas, ken rudolph, art shamsky, roy sievers, ron swoboda, ron taylor, tony taylor, anthony telford, al weis, roy white, bart zeller?)

What is my stake in this? Well not financial. My almost 8 year old son, Shane, has got the baseball bug much to my delight. What I am looking for are donations to his collection, in any form, which doesn't bear mention now. That's the beauty of this deal. You send whatever you think is fair value, no questions. You'd be trusting me with your items, and I'd be trusting you to give what you feel the deal was worth.

I can accept no more than 2 items for the players listed, as I think guys wouldn't sign more than 2, 3 tops. I am also requesting that a one per person limit on indivdual players. If you need 15 guys, I'll try to get you all 15, but just one of each.

The game itself is on January 29th, 2011 so I guess timing is an issue. The cutoff date to accept would have to be the 27th to make sure I had them.

Being in Florida I don't have access to Arizona spring training teams. May be interested in setting up something there if this goes well.
I'm just a collector looking for ways to keep my boy interested. Let me know your thoughts please. PM's are OK

Jeff

Joe DiMaggio game...success with 37 autos...but

Just wanted to post my 2 cents of the Joe D legends charity game.

Got there at 10, for 1 o clock game. Couldn't get any sigs by parking lot. Waited until 11 to get in. Did get Fritz Peterson on 2 index cards in parking lot. Pen died on first.
Got in at 11. 1st base dugout was fully lined, I would have been behind screen, so I went to third base side (NL side).
All players came out 1st base dugout. Some did wander over to 3rd base side.

Here was the list of players available and my experience with them.
If I don't mention them, I had no encounter. Everyone who I asked for an auto, signed.
alex arias--cool, signed 2
bruce aven---signed index card,
bob bolin---signed index card
ricky bones---signed 2 cards
dennis boyd---stayed by batting cage. Didn't sign any I saw.
bert campaneris---signed two cards and signed all along first base and came over to 3rd base side
orlando cepeda---realized he was on a turkey red and got it signed in blue sharpie! Almost signed an index card which would have cost me a sig, so I have a crumpled O on an index,
tommy davis---signed a card
andre dawson never saw
wayne garrett---super nice, signed 2 items
tony gonzalez---signed two cards,
wayne granger---signeda card and index card
willie horton---signed index card
jay johnstone---signed one card
darold knowles---signed one card
ed kranepool---signed one card
jim mcandrew---signed one item
minnie minoso---bless this guy, signed forever on first base side, never came near 3rd
john o'donoghue---signed one card
fritz peterson---signed two index cards
brooks robinson--- signed for over an hour when game started. Fans lined up and took items to him. I got my turkey red signed and a friend's 8 x 10
cookie rojas---a card and an 8 by 10 for friend
ken rudolph--a card
ron swoboda---signed index card
ron taylor---signed a card and a postcard
anthony telford---signed index card
al weis---signed one postcard
bart zeller---signed one custom card
rusty meacham---signed index card
warren cromartie---onesigned index card

All in all, very pleased with the day. I left in the 5th inning. Can't wait for next year and spring training.
To the guys who took me up on my offer, cards will be returned Monday.
For everyone else, I have 9 index cards signed in blue sharpie for anyonewho needs one or all.
Thanks for the read.

P.S. I got the bug now. Thinking of trying to get a set autographed this year. I am based in Florida. Would need an Arizona connection. to be continued...

Looks like a good time. Thanks again for getting me a few oddball Cardinals I really appreciate it. Maybe if I make my way to Spring Training this year I will try to catch you at a game.

Dawson had been taken off list weeks before the game. I had a different experience then you, I did get there an hour later, so did better in parking lot. The game only went 6 innings and ended 8-0 so you didnt miss anything there. Did get Downing, White, boyd, Johnson, Aven, and blair after game, so you may have missed out on a few of those. Robinson signing for so long on 1st base side was just amazing, some people hit him for doube digits, my g/f and I got 4 total.

Yes, Brooks is a truly amazing guy.
Wish I hadn't headed out as I was hoping for White and Blair, but there is always next year. And I think I'll bring a friend who won't bail the day before!

Next stop...Marlinsfest....are you going to hit that one too?

Sorry Seawolf

McAndrew signed a Mets postcard, but it wasn't for me and it's on its way to its rightful owner.
Sorry Seawolf.

My son is a big Stanton fan too. We always sit out there. Hoping for success. Got to get on the field and stay there.
