Update: New addition = Arodys Vizcaino (TTM, about 3 months via spring training)

Hi All,
I haven't started any new IP autograph projects in quite a while but, when I saw this insert set, I decided it was the perfect next project. Ultimately, I'm going to attempt to get all 2012 Topps Gold Futures inserts autographed, in-person, and in blue sharpie.

Because I picked up two complete sets for under $10 a few weeks ago, I decided to also send the cards to the players in spring training to get a jump on the project, with any coming back ultimately getting replaced by the in-person version as soon as I can.

All ST attempts were sent the first week of March. I'll keep posting my successes throughout the season. If you happen to get one yourself, I have lots of dupe IPs to trade for it.

03/24/12: Dustin Ackley and Ryan Lavarnway
05/14/12: Zach Britton

I'm hoping the players continue to hit that perfect light area of the card just above the graphics.

Here's where I'll keep the album... http://s176.photobucket.com/albums/w179/tribefan44001/2012 Topps Gold Futures AUTO Project/

My goal was to get 10 of the 25 back from spring training.
Regards,

Michael

Looks good. I sent a 2012 Topps card to Dee Gordon who also has a Gold Futures card, but have not received it back as of yet. I'm going to send to the stadium soon and try again. Maybe I'll send him the Gold Futures card.

I really like the way this set looks autographed... looking forward to the blue sharpie, which generally looks better than black across the board.

I've seen some spring training successes posted for Goldschmidt, Kipnis and Hellickson so I'm keeping my hopes up!

I have seen some Rizzo Gold Futures come back, so he will sign it if you can get it to him. I sent one to Arencibia and Moustakas, but no luck so far. Agree that it is a great looking set to have autographed!

Glad you posted this because when I first saw these cards I thjought they would look good signed. This just confirms it. Congrats on some great pick ups!

I've been traveling every week on business and the first thing I check for in my mail is my handwriting on envelopes and..... NOTHING. Again.

I was really hoping for more than 2 of the 25 sent to spring training.
What a bummer! Oh, well, it's IP season!

Anyone else doing this insert set or thinking about it?
Maybe we can help each other along.

Be careful with that Britton as rumor is his recent returns are ghost signed and from the evidence I've seen I'd believe it. Just so ya know...

Interesting, I guess. What evidence do you mean? It looks pretty close to these pack-pulled (unless by the same ghost signer)...

There is a thread over at SCN about this, and while I'm leaning one way it doesn't mean that its true. However this is the best pic from that thread that displays the point:

You can some small difference between the two, which has lead to the speculation that perhaps the ghost signer (again, if this is true) is trying to copy the certs in order to keep the returns appear real. If anybody is a member, you can see the thread yourself or else I'd be willing to hit the highlights as they come. The research hasn't got really far yet.
