League files are ready now for everyone.

Plan on updating website fully overnight.

The schedules are set. They are going to be a bit different from past years.

MLB schedule is 162 games, each team plays 17-20 against each divisional opponent, 9 games against all other league teams, and 6 3-game series against random interleague opponents.

AAA schedule is 144 games as the past, but it completely balanced playing all teams in your league equally
AA schedule is 140 games as the past, but it completely balanced playing all teams in your league equally

This sim is the only chance you will likely have to change player development budgets.

The current game date is 2/10, I would recommend going the normal 15 days so I can verify schedule maintenance, so next sim should stop a week or so short of spring training.

FA asking prices slowly started dropping as well.

The next sim deadline is Tuesday at noon central unless Nick deems otherwise.

Free Agent signings..

Chicago Cubs: Signed free agent MR Jonathan Papelbon to a 3-year contract worth a total of $13,200,000.
Washington Nationals: Signed free agent MR Edgardo Miller to a 2-year contract worth a total of $5,200,000.
New York Yankees: Signed free agent SS Troy Tulowitzki to a 4-year contract worth a total of $43,500,000.

Lots of good players still available...

I did research the Boston/Ogando issue as well. He was a Type B free agent. For some reason, the game thought David still ran LAA instead of Boston. Whereever the LAA supplemental pick ends up in the order, that will be a Boston selection.

Darn it. Haven't downloaded the update, but it hurts me to see Tulo signed with the Yanks. I offered I think pretty similar money. Guess no big signings for the A's this year.

I heard rumors that C Mauer wanted to return to Oakland and try for the third title.. He knows that you have the money to spend.. LOL!!!

Don't worry. I am now in your division so that should be at least 7 more wins for you.

Sorry Tony. I was a little worried about your deep pockets this offseason but I'm glad to have him back in the fold.

BSL service announcement: Marlins are currently skiing the slopes of Salt Lake City and will be unable to update until after Thurs.

Happy New Year!!!

Don't know who is spreading that rumor, but it is no more than a rumor. Not happening. We offered him large money to stay, but he opted for free agency and went to Tampa. We have moved on with our young catcher, Carlos Hernandez, who we think will only improve this year. Our main offseason target was Tulo, to shore up our D, and not have to give up a draft pick. Thought $46M for 4 years would bring a California kid back to Cali, but I guess not. Jed Lowrie had even volunteered to slide to 3rd to make room for Tulo.

Oh well, we will keep our money, and maybe between now and the deadline, someone will want to shed some large contracts, and maybe we can make a deal there. I guess it is time to throw more than $500K into my player development, LOL.

On a side note, I was mildly disappointed that given for the last 3 years, we have won 2 World Series titles, and in the other year, finished 1 game out of the playoffs, that our market size and/or fan loyalty hasn't risen. Stuck at below average / above average. Thought maybe I would have gotten one of theose emails that said my market size had grown, but nothing. We have the 2nd smallest market size in the AL and the lowest fan loyalty in the AL.

Well the Market sizes have not changed in a while.. Your fan loyalty didn't go up probably because both SP Escobar(popular)/CF Markakis(very popular) became FA's and you have not replaced that popularity with any new signings/trades. You got a small increase when you re-signed SS Lowrie.

Media contracts are reworked every 3-5 years I think. They are based off of market size.

Market size takes winning over a substantial period (sometimes 10-15 years!) to increase and/or decrease.

Fan Loyalty is really a function of popularity and ticket prices over the same timeline. Fan Interest is more important in the short term.

Teams that consistently win will see improvements over time, just be patient.

Nats have exported. I also was glad to see that in addition to the MR we were after I got a backup catcher and fill-in OF at decent prices to boot! My team is rounded out and ready to go as is but will not forego further improvements if the deal fits. The NL East should be another nail biter!
