Potter has helped me a ton over the years, with some very difficult guys to track down and downright rare signers. He has handled my items with care and been excellent as far as delivering exactly what i asked for on them. And he actually takes the time to ask you who you want in the future and tries to get them. A hobby asset as far as I'm concerned..

This guy is a joke. Getting awesome TTM signers like Lenny Wilkens & Steve Sax to stop signing TTM so he can make a profit off of it. Idiot.

I asked him about this directly regarding Wilkens. Here is what he told me.

- Wilkens approached HIM after they did a charity function together. Wilkens was referred to him through Tommy Davis. Wilkens asked Chris to help him with his mail because he was getting flooded with requests, often from the same person in a week's time. So now Chris is handling Wilkens' mail and all of the money collected from his TTM is going to the Lenny Wilkens Foundation.

So Wilkens is charging now?

Great. Yet ANOTHER one to scratch from my list and not waste my stamps on.

Or, is this just a one-time thing? I see Frank Tanana is on his list too, and he still signs free.

Chris Potter sometimes falls under criticism for his signings. I honestly think he is an asset to the hobby in SOME ways and in other ways, not so much. The good, in my opinion, outweighs the bad

He gets players that are hard to get ttm. Like Dr. Mike Marshall, Rocky Colavito, Tim Raines just to name a few.

Also, he charges less than other companies like tristar and MAB celebrity services and sometimes even the players. For his upcoming June 2012 signings he has Dave Parker for $15 and $5 for inscriptions. Parker himself charges $25 just for the autograph. I think that he has some of the lower prices.

Now for Steve Sax, who now charges $10, his autos were questionable when he was signing for free. I honestly think he had someone else signing the items. I got him ttm last march and looks off from his usual sig. I would have gladly sent him $10 just to be assured that it was actually him signing my cards.

I don't like that he is getting "exclusive" with players who sign for free. Though the players do approach him and in the Wilkens case, the money does go to charity, it significantly cuts down on the number of requests the player gets. Now some people would pay the fee for a set card or just to guarantee a return. I think Chris should have the athletes accept a free will donation, depending on the item and number of items. Like if Wilkens said have them send in between $3 and $15, then there wouldn't be so much negativity towards Chris Potter. Just my thoughts.

I have gotten several autographs done by Chris and Ive always been very pleased. He offers a great service, obviously I wouldnt pay him for an auto I can get TTM, but for guys like Rocky Colavito I know people who have sent a FED EX with $50 enclosed written on envelope and still got RTSed so I was happy when Chris did a signing with him as I was able to add Colavito to my collection.

After his playing career was over, Colavito was impossible to get TTM. Like it or not, this kind of service is here to stay. If you have sets you're building this kind of service is invaluable. Just my two cents.
