as i was perusing through completed maddux auctions, i came across this sale:

the only card in there worthwhile is the maddux, at like 50 or 75 cents...really?

I think:

Either it shows that the seller knew what he/she was doing, and they knew someone that wasn't card-knowledgable would come along and think it was a good deal, or they really didn't know what they were doing (because they didn't look to see what others were going for in the "completed" and "sold" sections) and got lucky.

You see this alot. For example, you see people selling something like a Corey Maggette game used card for like $6-$8 bucks, when you know that you could probably find it in a bin at a card show for $1. Either they are taking advantage of a supercollector that is having trouble finding the card and just pulls the trigger, or they are just getting lucky by tricking a less knowledgable person into buying it.
