Nope. You got his wife.

I pulled up this example off of ebay...

Notice the formation of the "D?" Different than what you have there. I would save your stamps on Don. He's a non-TTM signer. His wife does a great job, though. Best chance with Zimmer is IP.

Zimmer is like the modern day Sid Luckman. You see, for years Sid signed TTM with a beautiful sig...and it was all secretarial. I remember sending him a questionnaire years ago about the 1940 NFL Championship Game and was thrilled when I got it back filled out and signed. When I looked at the sig it looked like none of the TTM sigs from him I had received over the years. Naturally, I didn't think Sid signed that questionnaire. I did, however, keep it for further investigation. Glad I did, because the sig on that questionnaire was actually authentic...the others weren't.

Cant break your tie, as I have had a similar signature apparently from Mrs. Zimmer....congrats on the authentic Sid Luckmann though, houbb....that is really cool!

makes me wonder about even his certified autos. for example when topps send him a stack of cards to sign, how do we know that he and not his wife signed all his certified card autos? just really sad, in this case id much rather have him put RTS (Return to sender) on the envelope and mail it back to me than let his wife sign for him and ruin my photo :(

I can't remember where I read it, but he has done just that (I believe it was 05 Retired Signatures). He got in some trouble with Topps and they have sent a rep out to make sure he signs them now.

That is disappointing to hear, he has had such a long career in baseball, you would think he would be up front about signing things contractually, i.e. with Topps.....strange stuff!

i agree its not like he is pujols, ichiro, griffey jr, ways or aaron (players that were great) all i remember him for in his career is the old guy that got knocked on his !@# by pedro martinez!

I did some quick google searching and I did find this. I was just trying to find something a little more legitimate to cite rather than an autograph forum, but its the best I got right now.

Don Zimmer (Admitted it's his wife. He even tried pulling this off with certified cards before they got angry and threatened to sue him. I once heard Topps had someone LITERALLY stand over his shoulder as he signed stuff for them [as opposed to just being present, which is what Topps reps usually do].)

cool, thanks, do you know what years they started doing that as i have a 1995 topsp auto of his(its the one that looks like a 1955 topps card of him) and was wondering now if that certified auto is legit or not. not sure why zimmer doesnt sign his own mail, i mean to be honest he should be happy people still remember him and want his autograph (i just need it for my dodgers collection or i wouldnt even bother sending to him in the first place)

I'm by no means an expert but I'm leaning towards that being legit... His wife's version of the signature is always much cleaner and more legible... the differences most noticeable are usually in the "D" and a bit in the "Z". I got Mr. Zimmer TTM and I believe mine is legit... I've posted my TTM success below (the Expos card) as well as examples of a ghost signed one (wife) and a legit one from a reputable source (the baseball)

Yours is kinda in the middle... maybe his wife is getting better at ghost signing..

I disagree. I think there are alot of people that remember him, other than from the "pedro" incident, check out these facts from his wikipedia page.

In 1989, Zimmer managed the Chicago Cubs to a division title and was named Manager of the Year

Zimmer has written two books, Zim: A Baseball Life, and The Zen of Zim, that describe his life in baseball, as a player, manager, and coach.

Since the 2008 season, Zimmer has been the last former Brooklyn Dodger still serving on the field in some capacity. Zimmer also serves as a member of the advisory board of the Baseball Assistance Team, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping former Major League, Minor League, and ***** League players through financial and medical difficulties.

He is a busy guy, either way you are still adding a signature to your collection. I would be very happy to add his sig or even his wife's. :)

Why post this here when you have already been told about a website entirely devoted to autographs of athletes, especially TTM ones? This is a subject that has been dealt with 1000 times over at SCN, post that image there and let the experts prove to you that it's a fake.

Boomer, why would YOU post THIS here? who cares if you've dealt with it a 1000 times? If you don't want to be a part of the conversation, just don't post.
