Last year I went duck hunting for the first time. This is the story of my first day on the pond.
I sat on a log in the marsh
Under the new day’s gentle light
The falling rain was rather harsh
But I wanted to end a ducky’s flight

“There! Out there! It‘s a bird!”
I thought to myself as it got bigger
I raised my gun - and without a word
I proceeded to pull the trigger

Shot one was a miss; as was shot two
I knew I only had one shot remaining
Another shot and it no longer flew
A success was made of my dad’s hunting training

And though I had shot the duck
With finding it I had no luck
