hey guys,
i noticed on facebook there are MANY former big league players on facebook. a few even added me as their friend! hahaha...would it be too cheesy to send them a message asking for an autograph? one part of me thinks that because alot of lesser known player that are not in the ttm datbase here, are on facebook... that might be a good way to get autos from lesser known players that you might need for your collection another part of me thinks it is just cheesy to ask for autographs this way..so im 50/50 on whether this is a good or bad method......your thoughts please..thanks

I have become a fan of a few players that post and asked them if it was ok and got good results, I don't see anything wrong with just writing on their wall asking if you can send and what address. Which players did you find?

I friended a bunch of 70s and 80s players when I first got on, then I did a "friend purge" and dropped all but Warren Cromartie and Ron Kittle. I asked Cro and he even gave me an address to send, but sent a book on 2-14 and have yet to see it come back yet.

I talked to Kittle about signing and he has answered some Q's and ignored others. I have never asked him if I can send something and where to send though, as I have all the Kittle autos I really need/want. This is how I confirmed he only signs his 84 Topps card for a $25 donation to Indiana Sports Charities though, which is great because that was a near impossible card to find.

Some I remember friending were Dave Dravecky, Al Fitzmorris, Duke Sims, Dick Drago (That guy is a game-a-holic), Ed Herrmann, Joe Oliver, Mike Davis Glenn Braggs and a several others. No earth shattering names there though...

Already people are coming out of the woodworks asking who signs or who has been responsive via facebook. Leave the players alone. They already get enough via TTM. They don't need to turn on the computer and be hit with autograph requests. If they do sign, it's probably public knowledge anyway via the TTM database here or on SCN.
