I'll be honest, I'm annoyed by people claiming non- 1/1 s are 1/1 1s. For instance, if someone is hawking a serial numbered Ozzie Smith card (to 1999), I'm no longer surprised when people call most anything a 1/1.

1954? Year he was born. 1/1
13? Gold Gloves
1982? WS Champs.
1? Uniform number. All gotta be 1/1's

What makes any of these more important than, say, 86/1999?

What's that you say? He was picked with the 86th Pick in the 1977 Draft? Add those to the 1/1 list.

I get it. It sounds cool, and maybe reels in more cash in the Auction. It may even make it a more valuable card to the completist. But it isn't a 1/1. Those are limited to the cards that say 1/1.

End soapbox.

there is a select few that collect those and they consider it a 1/1 one guy on here collected 1/50 50/50 and the jersey number /50 that was his trifecta. if it makes the hobby fun for them so be it. thats what its about finding that one to add to your collection. hence the "Ebay 1/1" as it is now called.... ;)

George Brett was a 29th pick. All those are 1/1s.

I'm glad I'm not alone on this.

It can be said that every Auto is a 1/1, no matter how many cards were signed.

After all, isn't every auto..... in some respect..... a little different?????

LOL!

Weighing in...I don't mind the ebay stuff, because you should read the whole description...however...I hated it when UD came out in about 2006...with (trying to do this from memory) the 1/1 in which the player had about 100 1/1s only the quote was different or Topps Moments where there could be up to, what, 200 plus Red 1/1 for each hit the guy had!
That kind of saturated the 1/1 market.

Let us not forget the 07 spx Ripken 1/1's. They only made 2,632 of those babies !

They are not "fake" 1/1 cards. They are in fact unique cards. If a different border color, line of script on the card or photo make it a unique card, then certainly a different number stamped on the card makes it different from all others.

I don't even mind the people who use 1/1 in their auction listing, as I don't use it as a search criteria. I am bothered by those people who put irrelevant information in their listing, which is basically a keyword spam, or those who are blatant about it. I should not be finding a 1990 Donruss Cal Ripken card or a 1971 Topps Jerry Reuss when I do a Steve Garvey search. I don't care if they are remotely linked by consecutive game streaks or that Garvey's 71 Topps is a key RC in the set and that fact is noted on EVERY SINGLE CARD DESCRIPTION (700+) of a set breakup!

I wish more people would list the whole serial numbers in their listings, but prefer it when the "special" numbers are not noticed or announced.

My thought is that any serial numbered card could be considered a 1/1...There are no other cards exactly like each one of them...But in practice, that's lame, kinda like these eBay 1/1's...

I can see it now in an auction:
"Card serial number is 1549/2011, making this a 1/1!"

I hate that.
