Info concerning 2009 Topps Series 1 Jumbos?

Can anyone tell me why it is so difficult and so expensive to find and buy 2009 Topps Series 1 Jumbos?

It may be due to all of the VARIATION SP cards....

Series 2 has the Variation SP cards too, though right? Those jumbos can be found for nearly half the price of the Series 1 jumbos.

Yes, Series 2 has the VARIATION SP cards as well. Perhaps the print run wasn't as high as Series 2?

I'm pretty sure the series 1 jumbo boxes have such a high price because of the jumbo patches that were not available in series 2. They are whole card sized patches that often contained some nice logos and were #'d to 20 or less. Series 2 did not have these as far as I know.
