Normally, I don't post IP successes, but occasionally make an exception. This weekend I decided to start on a Rangers team signed ball. I began one Opening Weekend, but only got Wash and Derek Lowe on the ball. On the way into Houston on Saturday, I realized I had left that ball back at the house. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!

Ok, I thought, I can start another one.

Well, on Saturday, I only scored one for the team ball...Elvis Andrus. Got to say I was really happy with that, but it was a slow start to the team ball.

Today, well, to say today went sooooooooooooo much better would be a bit of an understatement. Here are the successes on the 2013 Rangers team ball today...

Ron Washington
Alexi Ogando
Jackie Moore
Joseph Ortiz
Derek Holland
Yu Darvish
Tanner Scheppers
Nelson Cruz
Nick Tepesch
Geovany Soto
Leury Garcia
Jason Frasor
Justin Grimm

I did add Jimmy Parades to my 2013 Astros team ball, giving me 10 for that ball, so far, and...

I also added another single signed OMLB on the sweet spot...

El Presidente, Dennis Martinez

Okay, that was a pretty darn good day :)

awesome job, Jim!! it's frustrating to be a Rangers fan, knowing they sign better on the road than at home.maybe one of these days i'll venture down to Houston.I always hear about how well they sign on the road.it's pretty much the exact opposite here.then again, from what i could tell, it was basically like a home series.sad to see how much houston has lost their fan base. did you get these on their way in to the stadium?just surprised to see tepesch sign before a start. any way nice job

I was surprised, Tepesch signed, too. Of course, I was the only one who recognized him and the only one who asked, so that may be why. I honestly thought Holland was starting today. I got Holland and Yu inside the park.

Houston hasn't lost it's fan base. It's just a frustrating time for Houston fans. When the 'stros and the Rockets went in with Comcast on their own regional sports network, the thought was it would be more locally based, and generate more revenue for the clubs. Unfortunately, Comcast has not come to terms with any other provider in the Houston area. Comcast only covers 40% of the potential Houston market. That means 60% can't watch the games...except when they're playing the Rangers because we can get 'em down here. I know Comcast would just love for me to switch, but I live in the country and can't get Comcast. If you're reading this in Portland, and are a Trailblazers fan and don't get Comcast and instead have another provider, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Comcast hasn't reached an agreement with any provider in that market either...and they've been carrying 'em for 5 years. Honestly, this strikes me as ultimately being a horrible business decision.

****addition on Monday 5/13/13****

Well, check this out. The Astros President and Ceo, George Postolos, one of themain proponents behind the Comast thing to begin with resigned today. What a shock...not.
