First, let me say this has already been cleared with Peter (Champs96ws). This is not a Presell deal. This Factory Sealed Box is already in hand. I've actually got 2. That eliminates you having to pay up front and cuts back on the waiting time! Not to mention you don't have to worry about buying leftover packs from someone on eBay who already pulled a Jeter or 2 and is selling you dead packs!

Although I can start this now or later, I'm just looking to see if there is enough interest here to do it. If so, maybe it could even be done with different products and sports in the future. The price for the 1993 SP Baseball Packs would be $18.00 delivered per pack. I'm not asking anything extra for Paypal fees, shipping, materials or anything else. It's just a flat $18.00 per pack. (Each pack will be sandwiched between 2 toploads and sealed in a graded card bag and shipped in a bubble mailer. Delivery Confirmation will be included on each package as well)

Nobody would send payment for the pack(s) until all packs have been claimed. This means that you would post in the thread, not via PM, that you want whatever number of packs that you would like. I want everything out in the open. (and no, I won't be opening any of the packs from this box myself) Once all 24 packs have been claimed, I will post the deal in the Trade Manager for you to confirm. If there are not enough people interested to sell all of the packs in a reasonable amount of time, then it's a no go! I will not sell just a few packs here or there. That assures everyone that there are no games being played and that if someone pulls a Jeter or 2 out of 6 packs that I'm not stuck with the remains of a dead box. This is an all or nothing deal.

Assuming all packs are accounted for and all trades have been confirmed, I will then start accepting payments. NOTHING will be mailed out until ALL packs have been paid for. Yes, that means everyone will have to pay for their packs before anyones packs will be mailed out. If someone doesn't pay in a reasonable amount of time, their pack(s) will become available for anyone to purchase. If for some reason all but one person pays for thier packs and we can't get anyone to take the last pack, I will refund all payments. (Please be considerate of fellow Bench members and follow through. Don't be "that guy".)

All 24 packs will be shipped out on the same day. Everyone should get them around the same time. Then let the Jeter hunt begin! It would also be cool if we had a thread where everyone could post the results of the packs they busted with scans!

I would love to hear some feedback on this and if anyone is interested. I've never done this before myself. I've actually seen it being done alot on the PSA Boards and thought I would try to bring it home here on The Bench. If there are any questions or I missed something, just let me know. If there is no interest or not enough interest no hard feelings here. I just thought it would something cool to try. I appreciate you hanging in for the long read!

Thanks
Craig

I'm not sure people will want to do a box like this, I'm looking at a older guide that says the full set is worth $120, the Jeter .... $120. The next highest card in the set is the Nolan Ryan at $8. I guess you could get a Platinum Power insert, 1:9, but the three big pulls in the 20 card set are all just valued at $12. Now the foil for cards is sensitive, so maybe this is the best lottery to try to get anything higher than an 8 from grading without going to the secondary market, but I'm not sure even a single box will yield a Jeter in this 290 card set.

That didn't take long! I guess it never does though...

I'm not sure if people will want to do a box like this either, James. That's the reason for this thread. The Jeter currently sits at $150.00 by the way. The Nolan Ryan and Johnny Damon cards both currently book at $8.00 each. I would assume that if anyone is interested in this, it's for the Jeter. A chance at a PSA 9 or PSA 10 Jeter most likely. PSA 9's sell between $700.00-$900.00 and PSA 10's, well you could probably name your price! Even PSA 8's sell between $75.00-$125.00 depending on the day. You are correct. There is no guarantee that the box will contain a single Jeter card. There also isn't one that it won't contain 1 or 2.

Thanks
Craig

The question is...are there enough gamblers out there willing to do it. It seems like there would be, based on activity and threads I have seen here, but that tends to favor brand new product. $18 shipped seems like it isn't that much these days for a pack (to me it is, but I don't buy wax anymore), but these packs are nearly 20 years old now. Is the risk/reward balance reasonable? I guess we'll see.

Those 93 SPs are a great looking base set, but as mentioned, there aren't many hits. There are 12 cards per pack, so you're looking at $1.50 a card in the end, regardless of what you pull. Of course, it is all about the gamble.

It's kinda like the 89 UD wax now. The only hit anyone cares about is Griffey. Getting the Griffey in a deal like this would be a dream. Any other pack is pure disappointment.

Looks like the average box goes for between $325-350 plus shipping on ebay. That puts the pack price somewhere around $15 delivered when you buy the entire box. Your method allows the cost conscious to get only a couple packs and not have to fund an entire box. Generally we expect a deeper discount for quantity bought, so I'd say your asking price is right in the old ballpark.

Unless you are this guy...Check out this deal someone got (if they actually get it from the seller...HOLY COW!!).

mrmopar - WOW! I thought that was for a single pack at first glance. I can't believe that price! That is the true definition of right place, right time for the buyer! WOW!

You are correct in that it's a gamble on packs and that Jeter is the only real desirable hit. Although 1993 SP is much harder to find than 1989 Upper Deck. Not to mention you have a much better shot at pulling a Jeter than a Griffey.

There is actually a full case of 1989 Upper Deck for sale right now on eBay. There are only (6) 1993 SP Baseball Boxes listed at this time. The 1989 Upper Deck come 36 packs per box with 15 cards per pack. That's 540 cards per box. There are 700 cards in the Low Series Set. The 1993 SP come 12 cards to a pack with 24 packs per box. That's 288 cards per box. The 1993 SP Set only has 290 cards as James stated above.

The 1993 SP will cost you more, but the Jeter is valued much higher than the Griffey. The biggest thing for me in comparing them is that the 1993 SP Boxes come factory sealed. The 1989 Upper Deck don't (at least what I've seen). Also, the Griffey's are sequenced and can be plucked and one will never even know...

In the end, you are correct regardless of what pack, box or case you choose to buy. It's all a gamble!

Thanks
Craig

Paul - If we get some real interest I'll post a thread in the For Sale/Trade Forum and shoot you and anyone else a PM when I do so. I appreciate it!

Thanks
Craig

jreimsch - Thanks! If we can get 3-5 more packs worth of interest, I'll post a thread in the Sale/Trade Forum and see if we can get you guys ripping some wax! (I mean foil!)

Thanks
Craig

The buyer left positive fb, so unless a shill they got a steal (literally!).

Just one more example of the importance of good titles. Their descriptions are okay but the titles are terrible.

David K. - Noted my friend! I we can get a couple more, I'll post a thred in the Sale/Trade Forum and see if we can get this thing moving!

mintman2 - Very true. People either don't know or are in a to big of a hurry.

Thanks

For what its worth i opened 5 boxes back in the day when it was a $60 box and it yielded 6 jeters. One of the five didnt have one but two boxes had two.

Craig,
Count me in for 1 pack, especially since I don't expect Willie Wonka to send out any golden tickets anytime soon!! lol

Thanks,
Pete
