Some of you may know that I'm a big Don Mattingly collector. I've followed his career since the minors and admire not only his ability but also his methodology. It's unfortunate that his career was cut short due to a bad back.

My question is why have his cards decreased in value so drastically. It seems that every month or so his cards decline in value. He used to be on a par with Ripken but the last year or so he's taken a severe dip. I'd like to get some ideas on the reason. Thanks for looking.

He is not in the hall, nor does he get the respect he deserves as he's overshadowed by the roid'ers on the ballot.
His stuff has actually increased on eBay recently over the last few years as it seems most of the collectors have dumped their major collections making things more readily available. The economy doesn't help either when everything of his was sold by user id PROBSTEIN123 not too long ago.. I actually bought 3 cards that would've put me back over $500 a few years ago for under $120.
It's a time to buy, that's for sure.
