I can't believe this! Man, he was waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too young! It seems like just the other day when he broke in with the A's. The man was incredible that rookie season. The sad thing is, since the A's were so bad back then, they didn't garner any national TV coverage. So few people got to see him play. I remember watching a game in late '77 between the A's and the Rangers in Arlington, and there were only a few thousand people in the stands. No one was watching. He was a big man who could hit, hit for power, and run like the wind. Rest in peace, Mr. Page, and thank you for the memories!

A comment was made that he should have won ROY in the AL that season. Looking back on the numbers, I would agree. Murray got the nod, probably for his being on the 2nd place Orioles instead of the cellar dwelling A's). Eddie had a handful more hits, HRs and RBIs, but Page had a better year across the board (R, SB, BA OBP, SLG, OPS)

He was definitely one of the few bright spots on those incredibly poor (and poorly attended) pre Billy-Ball A's squads of 78-79. I went to a good amount of A's games in those years and saw him do something special more than a few times. I seem to recall a Bench member from years ago concentrating on collecting his cards. -- Jim

Wow, didn't see this one coming. I never got to see him play but have heard his name bounced around out there a bit...rest in peace Mr. Page...

Murray was a deserving player, but I thought Page should have won it that year, as well. However, the voting was pretty darn close between those two.

Certainly a good player, but under recognized.RIP Mr.Page.
