Hello everyone, My name is Darryl and I'm new to TTM collecting. I just started in January. I am a Cubs fan and the 89 team is my favorite. I was 12 years old and this was the team that started me out as a Cubs fan. I posted a few of my early successes but no pictures. I figured I would go ahead and start a thread with my successes so far.

Mark Grace was my favorite player. He was the first TTM success I had back in 1989. I sent him these 2 cards and received both back signed.

I also purchased this signed 8X10 at a card show in 1989. I recently had it framed and matted.

I purchased this signed Gold Glove ball off Ebay last year.

Andre Dawson was my other favorite player. I also sent 2 cards to him in 1989 and he returned them both back signed. The Topps cards below are the ones I sent. The Donruss cards were sent by my friend when he found out that I got my cards signed. I then traded with him to get them.

Last month, Dawson did a signing at the Bob Feller Museum. I don't usually like paying for signatures, but I really wanted his signature on a Hall of Fame ball. then I found a jersey pretty cheap on Ebay, so since I had just gotten a bonus at work, I figured why not. I'm probably going to do some type of custom shadowbox to display these items.

In January of 1990, Jerome Walton came to town for an appearance at a University of South Alabama basket ball game. One of the assistant coaches for the baseball team coached him in Junior college and he was the reigning NL ROY. Autographs were $5 each and the money went to charity. I got a RONLB signed and an 89 Fleer card.

Now for my more recent successes.
I picked up joe Girardi on a 1990 Upper Deck IP at Yankees spring training last year.

Sent 89 Topps to Don Zimmer at his home on 1/4/12. Received card back signed on 1/11/12. I'm told that this is possibly his wife's signature.

Sent 89 Topps, 89 Fleer, and 90 Upper Deck to Mike Bielecki at his home on 1/4/12. Received all 3 back signed on 1/12/12.

Sent 89 Topps, 89 Fleer, 89 Score, and 90 Upper Deck to Vance Law at his home on 1/4/12. Received all 4 cards back signed on 1/13/12.

Sent 89 Donruss Rookies and 90 Upper Deck to Rick Wrona at his home on 1/4/12. Received both cards back signed on 1/17/12. The Donruss was personalized.

Sent 89 Topps, 89 Fleer, and 90 Upper Deck to Les Lancaster at his home on 1/4/12. Received all 3 cards back signed on 1/19/12.

Sent 89 Topps, 89 Score, 90 Upper Deck and an 8X10 to Shawon Dunston at his home on 1/13/12. Received all 3 cards back signed and 8X10 was personalized. I took it and had it framed and matted like my Grace 8X10.

Sent 89 Topps, 89 Fleer, 89 Score, and 90 Upper Deck to Rick Sutcliffe at ESPN on 1/4/12. Received all 4 cards back signed on 2/11/12.
DSCN3565.jpg

Sent 90 Upper Deck to Luis Salazar at his home on 1/4/12. Received card back signed on 2/23/12.

Derrick May was not a part of the 89 team, but he did have a 90 Upper Deck card. I saw he was with the Cardinals organization so I sent 4 cards out on 2/22/12 to the Cards ST address. Received all 4 back signed on 3/1/12.

Thanks for looking and I'll add more as I get them.

very nice! i used to love watching dunston play. he was drafted as a pitcher i believe. or he "was" a pitcher, or something like that. one of the strongest arms in baseball some say.

i love andre's auto, it's one of the nicest in the business. if you'd like to see an Awesome Dawson collection, check out Loyalty32 (craig).

I forgot to add my Sandberg Ball. I obtained this IP when he was managing the Cubs AA team. I waited patiently by the dugout before the game and he signed for me first when he came out. He even inscribed HOF 05 without me asking which I thought was very cool.

Very nice, I was a Cubs fan around this same time as a kid too and still have fond memories of watching games after school.

Dascenzo is a pretty good signer, and Curt Wilkerson is now manager of the Ft. Worth Cats who are 'graphed by some of the members of the board, maybe they can help.

Brings me back to when I was a kid and watching the Cubs....Shawon was and is my all time favorite, and have always enjoyed those old teams....thanks for the trip down memory lane, and congrats on some awesome stuff!

By the way, I think the Zimmer is authentic, that is what almost all examples of his signature that I have seen looks like. Cant ever be sure, but it matches things I have seen over many years of collecting!

Sent a 90 UD and 90 Fleer to Curtis Wilkerson at the Ft. Worth Cats address on 5/18/12. I received both of them back signed today.

Found this on ebay for $2.00. Figured this might be a tough ttm so I went ahead and got it.

Sent out a ttm to Dwight Smith a while back with no success. Picked this up cheap off ebay also.

I haven't had anything new to add to this collection in a while, but I finally got around to getting my Dawson jersey framed. Got it back this week. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

It's been a while since I added anything new to this collection.
Even though I already have a ball and card signed by Jerome Walton, I wanted the 1990 Upper Deck card signed. I sent out to him ttm to 2 differnet addresses and got nothing back. I found this one on ebay for cheap, so i picked it up.
I sent out to Doug Dascenzo last Spring Training and got nothing back. I sent this to his PO Box address in PA and got a return in 9 days.
Pat Perry was returned in 19 days from his home address.
I sent to Damon Berryhill over a year ago with no success. I got this in a trade with an SCN member.
