This was a gift from a co-worker who went to lots of games as a younger man. Here is what he told me, "I used to go to games with my dad and his business partner, he was friends with one of the Umpires who gave him all storts of stuff like this".
Alex Rodriguez on 1997 ASG Ball
Jose Canseco Rawlings AL Ball
The Canseco looks pretty solid to me. ARods autos has seemed to change quite a bit over the years. It's not and obvious fake or an easily authenticated version. Either way it does not really matter. I have no reason to believe there are fake and are not for re-sale or trade, it won't detract from my enjoyment of the hence to reason to get them officially authenticated. I only check these against authenticated versions for curiosity.
I also got a handful of Mariners Photo Balls in various conditions. They look like there were all part of one set at one time because there is a cheap plastic stand in the bag with the balls that was part of the display, I imagine.
EDIT: Just looked at the back of the ball and noticed a big CHEVRON copyright on it. Looks like it was part of a gas station giveaway.
Here is an example
Mine differs from the above in that the Edgar is missing, but I do have Fleming, Griffey, Charlton, and team ball exactly as shown.
I also have Bosio, RJ, and Piniella.
Most are beat up pretty good, looks like someone played baseball with them, imagine that. Here is a quick rundown.
Piniella-The only Mint ball, still in plastic baggie it came in.
Griffey-Very few flaws on his face, the Mariners logo in the back is real beat up.
Fleming-Face is a little beat up and logo a little too.
Bosio-Appears to be faded some and scuffed on face and logo
Charlton-Face and Logo are in good shape overall compared to the others
Randy Johnson-Lots of where on face side including an odd yellow mark.
