i sold an autograph on ebay with was authenticated by psa(psa blue slab). the buyer sent me a message complaining that he is returning the card because the card in the slab is in "horrible" condition. my question is, if it is a raw vintage card i can see about having to describe the condition of the card, but if its in a sealed psa slab and there is a picture of the card on ebay, is a seller suppose to describe the condition of an already slabbed vintage card? or should the buyer look at the picture and ask questions before buying? ive never had anyone complain about the condition of a slabbed card. your thoughts please. thanks

short version (if i have time , i may come back and expand on it ore later today) :

if the card is not a high grade (at least near mint or better) , but merely slabbed for authentication/protection and does not have a GRADE , then by all means you should describe the condition of the card in detail....even cards NOT encased , it is often difficult to get a scan to show all the defects such as chipping or surface scratches/wrinkles.....when they're in the thick case , an accurate 2-d image is even harder to get....

anytime i sell anything less than that condition on ebay i am VERY specific in detailing any flaws i've noticed despite having at least one high-res scan .....in my experience , even with huge pictures and detailed descriptions (which include the specific comment that the card is damaged) i have had a few buyers who didn't pay attention and after buying off-grade items e-mailed me commenting that the card was not mint.....

in short , ALWAYS assume the buyer isn't paying attention and provide as much detail as possible as a way to CYOA in any SNAD claims.... far better to overestimate the damage and drive off a potential buyer than to downplay (or ignore) it and wind up with a picky/impatient/unreasonable buyer who slaps you with negative feedback etc.....

Hey Bam

Ya i understand your frustration, the blue slab is the authentication of the card, not the condition. and if your posting a pic of the card, and its cert then this "buyer" has all the information he needs in order to skillfully make a buy. as the slab is to verify that yes its an authentic auto. i think i am starting to repeat myself so yes i agree, the seller knew what he was getting a verified auto not a graded card. guess that guy doesn't know what hes buying.

Two words: Buyer's remorse.

I'm sure he knew what he was getting and is just making an excuse to send the card back and get a refund. You're well within your rights to deny him.

thanks guys i appreciate your responses. i agree with all of you. it just seems like buyers nowadays on ebay are becoming more and more needy and more and more whiney and more and more...just a big pain in the....i agree that this particular buyer has buyers remorse. he/she spent more money than they have and now want their money back. the sad thing is buyers like this bid on items and knock out good buyers that actually wanted the item. i just dont get it with buyers on ebay, its lik, if you dont have money, dont buy/or bid..seems simple to me! this hobby has changed so much, thats why im in the process of selling everything in my collection on ebay and getting the heck out! thank you all for your responses. I appreciate it.
