Question about #'d card

I bought a couple of Blasters today, I pulled a 2011 Bowman Orange #142 Todd Helton, This Helton has a serial # of 001/250....
So my question is: Should I throw this card on EBAY because of the serial # being 001...How much more do you think it would bring in compared to it being any other number?

Some people think that an Ebay 1/1 is more worthy. I myself don't see it any different, to me a 1/1 is just that a 1 card with limited production of 1 for that particular card. Throw it on there & see what ya can get. State that it's the FIRST in the production run making it a Ebay 1/1 hah!!! GL

I am a sucker when it comes to first number serial run cards. I think because at this point in my collection I have acquired so many that it becomes somewhat of a challenge. I also go for the last numbers as well. The only thing more desirable in my collection is the cards serial numbered to the players jersey numbers. It is challenging to search these first, last and jersey numbered cards over the rest of the serial run, in my opinion. Eventually in trade or buying lots I will end up getting a regular number of that run if I cant find the 1st, last or Jersey number.

As you can see from the above reply, the 1/*** IS something SOME people really want.
To a player collector the 1/***, jersey #/*** or last #/***
is a desired card and they will pay a tad more for it.

Its also entirely possible you put it up on ebay and get 99 cents.
Might want to consider trading/selling it to yanks 21 or someone like him to get best return.

Let's look at it this way, there are probably more people likely to be interested in a #1 serial number than a #47 or #62 and so on (assuming there is no special meaning for those other number). These cards tend to carry a small premium and sometimes a seller can hit the jackpot if two or more collectors really want that special number.

Like Kevin, I collect the jersey numbered version of any serial numbered cards of my player and will also chase the first and last versions, but not to the extent of the jersey number.

I loved playing around with this argument on the Topps board a few years back as well...if you collect a certain player and want everything unique, it stands to reason that every unique serial number is a possible different card. Some could even say a 1/1. Heck, if UD can put out cards actually numbered 1/1 and have 100 slightly different versions (I am talking about those SP jerseys from Legendary Cuts, I believe, where the only difference between the cards was a unique statistic!), why can't #303/1000 and #721/1000 be considered unique enough from each other to also be 1/1s? There are collectors who do go after every copy of a serial numbered run...why? To hard that particular card? To get as many different serial numbers as possible?

Certainly, it is a neat novelty to have the first/last/jersey number of a specific print run. How much more it is worth strictly depends on the collector. I know one guy that collects ALL cards serial numbered 17/*** just because it was his high school number! Goes to show.....collecting cards can be anything you want it to be.
