Well...as you have most likely already read from my good buddies, HockeyBrawler and CW13, this weekend was Rangers Alumni weekend and Kenny Roger's induction into the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame. There were sooo many more people there than there were last year. It was pretty crazy but we did the best we could. I had a great time chatting and laughing with those guys and hopefully they had a good time as well. Here's my haul:
Manny Acta
Mike Adams and Sandy Alomar, Jr.
Buddy Bell
Asdrubal Cabrera
Fausto Carmona
Shelley Duncan
Chad Durbin
Rusty Greer
Matt Harrison and Charlie Hough
Pat Mahomes and Lou Marson
Mitch Moreland
David Murphy and Jim Norris
Omar Quintanilla
Dave Roberts and Kenny Rogers
Ruben Sierra
Koji Uehara, Todd Van Poppel, DeWayne Vaughn
And, for those of you who don't know, Ranger captain Michael Young got his 2,000th hit on a single to third base yesterday. Afterwards we waited on him at the tunnel for about an hour and a half. The security guards even closed the gate in a ploy to get all of the fans to leave (some friends of ours overheard them talking about it). And it worked...on most of the people out there. They packed up and left. But I and several others had been at the tunnel since the game had ended and we were certain he hadn't left yet. So we waited...and about 10-15 minutes after the gates originally went down out came Michael's navy Mazarati. There were only about 8 people left out there now. At first, he gunned it up the hill and I thought he was going to blow us off. But when he passed us we could see he was on the phone and he singled to us to wait just a minute until he got off the phone. He pulled over into the parking lot and talked for another minute or two and then he rolled down his window and motioned us over.
He was in a really great mood and rightfully so. He gave us high fives and signed everything he was handed. He was doing inscriptions and pictures. It was the single coolest thing I have ever seen Michael do. I started graphing at the Ballpark the same season Michael was a rookie so it was a really cool experience for me to get celebrate such a milestone with him.
Thanx for looking and God Bless!
