I hit a card show in Seattle today and had some good luck. I won a drawing for a $50 gift certificate to use at the show, not bad! I used it towards some boxes but we'll get to those later. I picked up a few cards for my collection, nothing big. Kind of seems like I've cleaned local dealers out of cards I want.

These were $5 each.

These were a buck a piece, not bad, they're mint and book at $8 each.

This was my favorite pickup. There was a woman who had bought some autographed balls at Goodwill or some other thrift store and was asking a dealer if he knew who had signed them. She already knew a few and the dealer was identifying most of the others, mostly Mariners autographs from 5-10 years ago. The dealer looked at this one for a while and was stumped, so I asked to take a look. I had to laugh, what are the odds they would be standing next to one of very few Todd Van Poppel collectors in the world? I didn't have his autograph on a baseball (official AL ball that looks like it saw some use in BP or a game) so I bought it from her for ten bucks. A nice addition to my collection!

I searched the bargain bins for trade bait but the great deals were few and far between. These were the most interesting ones I picked up. All for trade of course.
I used my $50 gift certificate towards the purchase of 2 boxes: 2012 Archives ($85) and 2011 Bowman Draft ($65). It got me 1/3 off and I did pretty well with them.
First Archives:

The Golds sucked.

But hey I pulled a Will Clark autograph! They've been selling for $45-50 on eBay. It and the Otis are both up for trade but of course I'd expect something nice for the Clark.
Then I cracked Bowman Draft:

The first Gold Refractor autograph I've ever pulled! Taylor Jungmann 18/50, books for $150. Available for sale or trade for nice A's stuff.
I also bought a box of 1992 Score Series 2 for $5. If I pull a Mantle autograph I'll make sure to update this post while hyperventilating.
Thanks,
Richard
