So, I was at an LCS today to get some supplies and was looking around a bit. Last tome I was in this particular shop they had a graded copy of one of my white elephant PC cards. Well it was still there today. I've been saving the money I get for donating plasma in goal of hitting the monthly card show next month with some decent cash, so I just mentioned that I noticed that it was still there today and the owners dad and I started chatting and mentioned this player was my pc guy and that didn't quite have enough today, but hopefully by the end of the week if it was still available I would grab it. Dad looks at me and says well we could hold it for you, if you'd like, or we have a layaway plan too. I was floored. This is a card I've seen only 3 times since it was issued 40 years ago. This is what makes this hobby great is dealers like this. They have a good mix of vintage and current and aren't hell bent on breaks and other fluff that has seemed to consume the hobby. I'm a sure most will be able to figure it out who I'm talking about but will share once I have the card in hand.
