So I’m back in the game since leaving in the late 80’s. When I was a kid I used the Baseball Address list book that is done by Jack Smalling. The Smalling’s are family friends and Jack was my baseball coach every year from 1982-1987. So I wrote to players way back then using his address list and I went back and looked at who I had. I found the following that I got TTM:

Willie Mays – 3x5 index card
Brooks Robinson - 3x5 index card
Lou Brock
Reggie Jackson
Stan Musial
Johnny Bench
Gaylord Perry
Steve Garvey
Rick Honeycutt
The San Diego Chicken (LOL-I was 13 years old give me a break)

So now I have a 6 and 8 yr old and they want to start doing this. Do major stars like this ever sign TTM anymore?

some do, alot dont. best to check recent successes and go from there. spring trainning around the corner i suggest getting stuff ready tobe mailed. alot now dont do index cards (people scan the auto and place on a photo and such for ebay) good luck

I know Josh Hamilton signs TTM, but only once per season (after the season is over). Best time to send to him is during ST...be preparded to wait a year for it to come back.

Most of the 'stars' that you listed from the 80s have a fee today... so if its free autos you want then not so much. But if you want to make a donation to players, then you can get a lot of bigger names.

Good finds!
