So far the divisional round is looking pretty darn good. Only one series went the minimum 3 games. The Twins truly need to play someone other than the Yankees in the playoffs!! 12 straight losses??? The Yanks seem to have their number right now!
Rays stave off elimination with a nice effort from Charlie Morton. Astros sending Verlander back out there on short rest for game 4.
Cards/Braves - has been a fun series to watch. Both teams can claim that if their bullpen was better the series might already be over. Flaherty taking the mound for the Cards for Game 5.
Nats/Dodgers - back to Chavez Ravine we go - was worried about Scherzer after the first inning dinger, but he was tough after that!
Rays jump on Verlander early and hold on to tie the series up and head back to Houston for a Game 5!! Wonder if that guy who wagered $3.5mm on the Astros to win the series is sweating at all..of course, if you have $3.5mm to wager, you probably don't care too much if you lose it......
Two game 5's today, should be good ones!!!
Buehler v. Strasburg & Foltnywiecz v. Flaherty.... I am assuming every pitcher on every team will be available to pitch, with the exception of Corbin for the Nats, who has stunk in his two appearances so far!!!
I would fully expect the Twins to be back next year! Don't think the Tigers/Royals/White Sox will be a lot better than this year and there is a very good chance that the Indians trade off their best pieces and start rebuild mode at their low cost model.
Like most other teams, they will be looking for a high end starter or two...question is, will the Pohlad's open up the checkbook and make a serious run at a pitcher? If they do, the next thing to do will be to break that post season losing streak.
A bit of an unlikely start in Atlanta this evening....Turned the radio on after baseball practice and heard 13-1...thought it was a joke.
Dodgers jump out quickly on Strasburg - Nats fighting back, but running out of innings.....
Strange.....Cardinals vs. Nationals for the NL title! Fresno was AAA for Giants...Giants won Titles in 2010, 2012 and 2014.....Astros moved to Fresno in 2016...next year They won it all in 2017....in 2019 the Nationals moved to Fresno....Could another Title????
Think Fresno could handle 30 triple AAA franchises??
I love Clayton Kershaw, but he may be the worst post season great pitcher of all time. At this point, you are running him out to the mound in the playoffs at your own risk. Two pitches, two HR's - game tied. The Nats seem to come up with more clutch hits than they should be allowed!!!
Not sure who would have predicted a Nats/Cards NLCS, but it should be a good one!
Another Game 5 tonight - Rays/Astros. Gerritt Cole hasn't lost a decision since May! Gotta feel pretty confident if you are the Astros at this point, coming back home with Cole on the bump!
