The Buckeyes are still going strong. Maybe this year it will be no holds barred and they will not take any teams for granted. The match up with Wisconsin will be the biggest test. If they win that game then it should be home free to the final four.

I would agree with that assessment. If Wisconsin or Ohio State (or I guess Penn State) can win the Big Ten championship as an undefeated champion, they are going to the playoff. I saw most of the Michigan/Wisconsin game - and UW looked extremely good. Should be interesting to see how it plays out!

Notre dame losing to Georgia last week most likely knocked them out. And Georgia losing to South Carolina was a huge blow to them. I think that Alabama and Clemson are locks even if they lose 1 game. If Ohio State and Oklahoma run the table then it is probably a forgone conclusion that those 4 team will be in. I just hope that Alabama or Clemson lose so Ohio State can avoid one of them in the first playoff game.

Well Clemson just dropped to 3, after dropping to 2 the previous week - guess only Alabama gets the love for being defending champion and staying undefeated and #1.... Big jump for LSU all the way up to #2. Don't think Georgia has a shot at the playoffs anymore, right along with Notre Dame. If Clemson loses, they are done - they need to be undefeated and win the ACC Title game. The SEC still needs to knock each other out as games progress, Alabama in the drivers seat. If Oklahoma & Ohio State both go undefeated and win their conference title games - The Final Four will be Oklahoma/Ohio State/Clemson/SEC Conference Title game winner. If there are 3 undefeated Big 5 conference winners, the SEC representative will have to be the conference title game winner. In this scenario, don't think a 1 loss SEC team that doesn't make the title game gets into the playoffs.

Just trying to keep things straight in my head. Clemson is the defending national champion, they were ranked either #1 or #2 (depending on who you asked) to start the season, they are still undefeated, and yet, they have dropped a spot in the rankings for the past 3 weeks and are now standing at #4???? Just shows how much respect everyone not named Saban/Alabama gets!!

Huge upset with Illinois beating Wisconsin - pretty much takes the Badgers out of the national title hunt. Penn State...or Ohio State coming out of the Big Ten.

Let's see if the Wisconsin loss to Illinois was a fluke, or if they are done -- matchup with Ohio State is huge.

Notre Dame/Michigan -- can Harbaugh win a signature game????? Sounds like the folks in Ann Arbor don't care, they are happy with him regardless....

Ohio State took care of business against Wisconsin. The Buckeyes seem to be playing about 5 times faster than their opponents. Maryland next week and Rutgers ( I think) the week after that. I would not be surprised to see the spread approach 50 in either or both of those games. This looks like the best team they have had since Elliott and Bosa were there when they won it all.

Ohio State did destroy Wisconsin - Looks like it will be Penn State/Ohio State winner as the favorite to represent the Big Ten in the playoffs. Speaking of destroying, Michigan put a whuppin' on Notre Dame, which will effectively remove any thoughts the Irish had of the playoffs.

Oklahoma was a 24 point favorite heading to Kansas State, they came out a 7 point loser and they can kiss the playoffs goodbye.

How many more upsets are we going to see this year. LSU/Alabama is looming - with LSU as the new #1 team AND the Heisman hopeful with the best odds to win.

Thinking the top 4 will remain the same this week - Clemson/LSU/Alabama/Ohio State. Oregon and Penn State knocking on the door.

LSU v. Alabama on Saturday, so one of them will be gone....

Penn State has to go to undefeated Minnesota, will see how that one plays out.

FSU fires Willie Taggart after less than 2 seasons, all it cost was a $17 million buyout. Where do I sign up for the jobs that pay me that kind of $$ to go away for being horrible at what I do????

I think even if Oregon goes undefeated they will not make it. A one loss LSU/Alabama team may get in ahead of them. The Ohio State/Penn State loser is gone for sure. A loss by Clemson would clear things up. Then we would have LSU/Alabama/Ohio State/Oregon. Assuming Ohio State runs the table, which is a strong possibility. If Clemson loses a game they are gone for sure.

Completely agree on Clemson - if they don't run the table, they are out. But I think they will, so let's put them in. I also think Ohio State runs the table, so let's put them in. And if Ohio State runs the table, that means Penn St. has lost, so they are out. I also think Minnesota will lose, so they are out. If Baylor runs the table, they may be in, but I don't think they will. Oregon needs to run the table and get some help - thir only loss so far is to Auburn, which isn't a bad loss.

The SEC is where it gets interesting -- there is potential for 3 one loss teams -- Alabama/LSU/Georgia. You can make an argument for two of them to get in, but it has to be the two that make the championship game. If Alabama loses to LSU, and than LSU loses to Georgia in the SEC championship, alabama is out, they have gotten WAY to many passes in the past.

First BCS pool came out last night.

1 - ohio state
2 - lsu
3 - alabama
4 - penn state
5 - clemson
6 - georgia

Assuming that either LSU or Alabama is out of the top 4 after Saturday and clemson slides back in if they continue winning. Oregon/Utah are at 7-8, and in better shape than the Big 12 contingent of Oklahoma (9) and Baylor (12).

Should be a good day of football tomorrow.

Penn State @ Minnesota kicks off at noon.

LSU @ Alabama kicks off at 3:30??

As cold as it is here right now - inside and in front of a television is a good place to be!

That was a great game at TCF, with the Gophers pulling it out with an interception in the end zone with a minute left. The PSU receiver was looking for a flag, but when they scored their last TD they did so with the play clock at zero and that wasn't called so they kinda evened out. The sad thing for the Gophers is, they will have no shot at the national championship, cause it's Minnesota and haven't been relevant in CFB since the early 60's.

Great win by the Golden Gophers!
