What a great day my favorite college team today the Golden Gophers beat the Nittany Lions

**My favorite college FB team anyone who plays PSU

Right there with you - I have no love for Penn State, always makes my day a bit better when they get beaten.

That was a great game at TCF, with the Gophers pulling it out with an interception in the end zone with a minute left. The PSU receiver was looking for a flag, but when they scored their last TD they did so with the play clock at zero and that wasn't called so they kinda evened out. The sad thing for the Gophers is, they will have no shot at the national championship, cause it's Minnesota and haven't been relevant in CFB since the early 60's.

If the Gophers win out and take the Big 10 championship, they are in. I think Penn State is now out for sure. I would say the same for Alabama, but for whatever reason, the voters seem to love seeing them in the playoffs and do anything they can to put them in, regardless of whether they have losses or don't win their conference, etc.

We were at a bar for lunch yesterday, it was pro-Penn State, and when Minnesota got the INT, you could hear a pin drop. As it cleared out after that game and the next wave of folks came in, it was very clearly a anti-Alabama vibe. It was very clear who the biggest villain in college football is.....

Look at Gophers schedule.......their almost losted to Fresno State Bulldogs early in the season....so it was a great win....but it still a long way to go!

No different than Alabama, who hasn't played anyone yet (other than LSU) and Clemson, who hasn't played anyone.

New BCS will come out tonight, curious where they drop Alabama to - I am hoping to at least 5, but knowing how much these voters want Alabama in the playoffs, they will end up at 4.

My top 8:
LSU
Ohio State
Clemson
Georgia
Alabama
Oregon
Minnesota
Baylor

Time to reward Minnesota and Baylor for being undefeated.

As for the Heisman - It is clearly Joe Burrows to lose. He is showing that LSU can be a beast when they are an offensive threat.

Got the top 6 correct. missed on 7 & 8. I had minnesota/Baylor, committee went utah/minnesota. As long as alabama doesn't get a pass into the playoffs while not even making it to their conference championship, I am fine with whomever makes it in.

Brutal injury for Tua Tagliovoa - hip dislocation with fracture of the posterior wall - that doesn't sound good, and it didn't look good. Hope he is able to recover quickly and still be a high end draft prospect.

Baylor and Minnesota both lose, so they can kiss their playoff aspirations good bye. Don't expect to see the top 4 (maybe even top 6) change at all this week.

Pretty sure that we can now officially write off both Oregon and Penn State.

I can feel it - Alabama is going to get in again without winning their division OR conference.....

If one of the top 4 (Ohio State/LSU/Clemson/Georgia) falter - I would put a 1 loss Oklahoma team in that wins the Big 12 over Alabama. i don't see a way that they put 3 SEC teams in the playoff.

I don't want to see Alabama again either, but my eyes tell me they are one of the best right now. I think they are better than Georgia. Their talent is up their with Clemson, Ohio State and LSU. Their defense and weak schedule might keep them out.

Just imagine the four QB's that would be in the playoff if the current top four make it.

On another note I think the 3 Heisman candidates at Ohio State take votes away from each other and the Ohio State transfer wins the award.

Alabama is an easy call if LSU beats Georgia (sorry Okla.) The tougher call is if Georgia beats LSU. Does LSU still get in or does Alabama jump LSU.

I am hoping that Tua makes a full recovery after what has been described as successful hip surgery, but.....I don't want Alabama in the playoffs, they don't deserve it. They are not the same team that has dominated for the last decade. As mentioned, they played a weak schedule and they didn't win their division, let alone their conference. Tired of them getting a pass to the playoffs on their name and not their accomplishments.

If Georgia beats LSU, LSU is still in as the #4 team. If LSU beats Georgia, and Oklahoma wins the Big 12 Conference title game, Oklahoma is in. If LSU beats Georgia, Oklahoma loses the Big 12 championship game and Utah beats Oregon to win the PAC-12, Oregon is in. One loss conference champs deserve to be in over 1 loss Alabama that sat home on championship weekend...again. They have gotten a pass twice before without playing in a conference championship, no need to give them a gift the third time.

This doesn't even bring up what might happen if Baylor were to beat Oklahoma in a rematch in their championship or if Minnesota runs the table and beats Ohio State in Big 10 championship. There is still a whole lot of potential chaos out there.

As for the Heisman - it is the kid at LSU's to lose.

Ohio State jumps back up over LSU to the #1 spot - Ohio State/LSU/Clemson/Georgia. Alabama/Utah right behind them.

I took Alabama this weekend -4. So that means that Auburn wins outright or to add misery to the pain, Alabama will win 27-23 and they stay at #5 and I win nothing......

Ahhhh..thank you Auburn for fully eliminating the Crimson Tide from playoff consideration. Saban won't be able to whine his way in with two losses! Utah and Oklahoma will be the biggest beneficiaries and will have the best chance to slide into that #4 slot depending on what happens with the LSU/Georgia SEC championship game.

Top 4 heading into conference championship weekend - Ohio State/LSU/Clemson/Georgia -- Utah @ 5 Oklahoma @ 6 as the two best chances to slide into the playoffs.

ACC - Clemson v. Virginia
SEC - LSU v. Georgia
Big 10 - Ohio State v. Minnesota
Big 12 - Oklahoma v. Baylor
Pac 12 - Utah v. Oregon

Rooting for chaos?? Or rooting for chalk??

I think that Ohio State is the best team in the country right now. Barring any injury they just seem to be playing above everyone else. I think that even LSU cannot match the Buckeyes speed on defense. I am a huge Buckeyes fan but given the eye test they just seem to be that much better than everyone else.

I think you may be right - LSU offense looks a little better than OSU, but I think the OSU defense is much better than LSU. Don't sleep on Clemson though....their schedule hasn't been tough, so they aren't getting much love, but ever since their close call at UNC, they have looked dominate, almost like a wake up call!!

After last night, Utah is done. There will be no PAC 12 team in the playoff this year. That opens it up for a sleeper - either Baylor or Oklahoma if Georgia loses to LSU this afternoon.

Jeff Tedford resigned from Fresno State Bulldogs.....heart problems and wanted to spend more time with his family. He will be missed.

That name sounds familiar - where did he coach before? Cal?

LSU crushes Georgia. Clemson crushes Virginia. Ohio State comes back to beat Wisconsin.

My final 4 rankings:
1 - LSU
2 - Ohio State
3 - Clemson
4 - Oklahoma

And now we get to watch how many draft eligible players bail on meaningless bowl games to make sure they stay healthy for the draft combine. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see 6 or 7 kids from a program like Alabama call it quits to their college careers at this point.

I am hoping the Ohio State stays at #1 and avoids Clemson. I was also hoping that Utah would have gotten in. Then the Buckeyes could have played Utah while Clemson and LSU face each other. But that did not happen.

If I were an Ohio State fan, that is the scenario I would have rooted for as well. Unfortunately, looks like LSU jumped to #1 and will get Oklahoma and Ohio State & Clemson get to battle it out in the other semi.

National Signing Day today - shockingly the top classes look to be Clemson/Alabama/LSU/Ohio State/Georgia. Same as it ever was, same as it ever was!
