...when I sent this out in February 2008, President George W. Bush was still in the White House, Senator Clinton was still considered the favorite for the Democratic nomination for President, Justin Bieber was an unknown kid dreaming about making it big in Ontario, and Phillies fans were still thinking they got robbed when they traded Michael Bourn for this guy...
Brad Lidge 1/1 3 years 11 1/2 months (8x10)
c/o Phillie ST
Remember when some Phillies fans were up in arms about that trade back then? They were thinking what a lot of the media idiots were thinking back then, that Brad was psyched out by the Pujols homer in the '05 NLCS. He would never be the same.
Yeah, right.
I saw how the Astros handled him in '06 and '07, and knew he was being mishandled. You don't yank a closer out of the closers role and put him in a 6th inning specialists role after TWO games into the season. He still had a live arm and an electric slider that would make your knees break. I knew it and said it on a few different sites. When Lidge punched out Hinske to close the clincher in the World Series that same Fall those same Philly fans who crucified that trade started speaking a different tune.
It was really cool seeing this one come back home. Thanks for the great memories from '04 and '05, Brad!
