love the alex johnson success..apparently his time in texas was very interesting and he was quite a character...of few words, especially with the press.

Oh yeah! Very few words. You have to remember when he came to Texas it was shortly after all that stuff happened between him and the Angels. He was going through some serious depression issues at the time, and the Angels and the press in California all thought he was loafing it. With the help of Marvin Miller and the very young MLBPA Johnson fought the Angels and won...and beat his depression. I'd venture to guess that experience soured him on the press.
