I just loved that scene. Great writing! He was just told his son is dead and he asks about the Buhner trade. Funniest thing I ever saw on television.

To be fair to Phelps, he was a pretty impressive left handed hitter back in the day. I could see why the Yankees wanted him. A left handed pull hitter with power. They could see the short porch in right and thought he would be perfect in Yankee Stadium. Didn't exactly work out that way, but a solid player and a fun one to watch.
