I think it's a production mistake.
Why would anyone fake (and foul up the value of) a Ty Cobb GU/5 card?

Tim:
I have a quad relic of Hunter Pence from this set, and nowhere it says that they were GU items from Hunter Pence. In fact, all it says on the back of the card is:

"The relics on this card are not from any specific game, event or season"

..........so, the image of Ty Cobb on the front is just "coincedental" I guess.

I've noted that in GU discussions in the past. The wording on the backs of these newer GU cards never mention the name of the player. The older GU stuff used to specify the player's name.

So what the heck are the patches from ? Maybe from the jersey the stock boy bought outside the stadium and wore during the game he went to ? They might as well be fakes if it's come to this. Ridiculous !

I was under the impression that this:

"The relics on this card are not from any specific game, event or season"

meant it was of the player pictured, but not affiliated with that player from a particular game or specific year.

In other words, using Pence as an example, it's a Pence jersey or patch, but they don't tell you from what year or game.

Could they get any more vague ? EVENT ? Could have come from something he wore to a team bbq, what he wore to his kid's t-ball game or watching game footage with the coach. Pretty sad imo.

topps screwed up yet again by saying on the back of these cards "patch" My guess is the seller went with that.
