Hi All
So, I have over 5000 inserts, parallels, SPs, etc. Do say nothing of the base that people keep wanting to complete sets.

I would love to help, but time is limited. I have a lot of stuff listed in the books on my freewebs site. Those are fairly easy to pull...but the stuff in the boxes...takes time.
Any thoughts or suggestion.

if you want to maximize your return , you'll need to be patient enough to sell or trade them as singles or small lots......i have over 2 million cards here and only about 10% of them are PROPERLY organized so far....they take up close to 75% of my home....i fully understand both the need and desire to move some stuff and i'd really prefer to either sell or trade up (i've helped quite a few people here with trades that saw me sending them up to 600-700 cards in one big trade in exchange for 10-20 better cards i needed.....they take up space and trading that way takes time.....most player collectors already have this type of material (base and low-end inserts and parallels) so they don't need it which often leaves you looking for set builders or people just starting new collections

if you just want to move them more quickly but most likely with a much lower return value , you have several viable options :

player lots
team lots
set starter lots

these lots can be based on any of many factors : quantity of cards ....total BV of the lot....percentage of the set....

with the player lots , one trend you may notice....everyone has lots of the super stars available , but often it's the minor/regional stars that fetch the best returns quite simply because not everyone takes the time to pull those... (some of my all-time best sellers from 1999-2005 were small lots of herman moore in football and larry walker in baseball)

if you just want to move stuff quickly , you're almost limited to one or more bulk lots that tend to move at very low percentages of bv....while the return is usually a VERY LOW percentage of BV , if you find someone with plenty patience and more free time that is willing to parcel the cards out (quantity over quality from their viewpoint , vice versa from your end) , you may be able to work out a deal to pick up a few very nice PC items ....(fwiw , i am one who tends to look for these type of bulk lots)....

Yeah unfortunately you'll either want to sell in bulk or piece it out. And it's going to take time to piece them out... lots of time. I sold roughly 1 million cards back in 2009 for $1600. All were mainly 1988-1994 commons but there's no card shops around here anymore and time was of the essence. Sounds like you have a lot nicer stuff and I'm sure if you use your online resources you'll figure it out quick!

For the 2 members with or have sold the millions of cards, how did you get an exact count on them? I mean is there a machine to help with that or what? I definitely can not count that high or at have don't have the patience to without getting confused lol.

OP I would try to move in bulk lots of play lots or the kind of card lots. I myself love serial numbered cards so I'm sure I'm not the only one. Good luck!!

Well I never actually counted them all. I tell everyone roughly a million although I believe it would be a little over if I actually counted them. When my father passed away I inherited his collection/hoarding of commons. I pulled the autographs that were in primarily one box and estimated the rest. There were something like 200+ 5000 count boxes. The shed was 15 by 30 and stacked 10 feet high FULL of only card boxes. That's where I got my estimation from. Everyone thinks I made up the number when I tell them especially if they know nothing about cards and how little 1990 commons are valued. Their astonished that I got so little for the cards but I didn't have time to piece them out. I would have loved to trade them on here but I'm not going to keep a 10 by 30 shed full of commons for the rest of my life especially since I've moved since. We needed to store the rest of his belongings as well so I needed to move them fast. Trying to find someone to buy a million sports cards...mainly singles and living in Maine is nearly impossible.

As for the card counter I've never heard of such a machine. Wouldn't that be neat if they had one. I'd never invest sense it would most likely damage the cards. Thanks.
