What's the silliest/dumbest thing a buyer/seller/trader has said to you ?

My most recent silly buyer on ebay....... "I am wondering if you would
consider withdrawing my bid? I noted that I am only $.50 above the next
bid and hope this encourage your decision."
Well duhhhhh, on a $13 item where you're the high bidder you'll never be more than 50 cents above the next bidder ! Note I said "silly", because the guy just simply doesn't know how the system works.

And the one that drives me bonkers every time........ "I can't make that trade because I gave up xxx$$$ for such and such a card"
WHAT ? It's worth what it's worth. Who cares what you gave up for it.

LOL..

Seller: "I want $60 for this, last one sold for $42 on ebay".. I am still trying to figure this one out!! Yes it was on here a few weeks ago!

I don't have a problem with traders backing out.. if it is not in the trade manager then it is not a trade no matter what anyone said!! IMHO!!

Losted a card in a bidding war.....but the winner...back out and the dealer oftered the card to me at my max bid.....I felt that something funny was going on ....so I said....No way! The guy e-mails me back...I thought you wanted the card? Why did you bid on my card...if you did not want it?

I used to collect his cards so I want more than BV for them.
He is a young player and if he has a good year his cards will go up so I want extra for his cards.
I like the $250 cut in your PC, will give you 26 autos for it.[Then lists all no name RC most that are no longer in baseball.]

had a very similar experience once. Seller contacted me and let me know that the high bidder backed out and that he would gladly sell me the card for MY high bid. I politely explained that if it wasnt for that high bidders involvement in the auction that I would have won the auction for about half of my high bid, and that I would be happy to complete the transaction at that price. The seller blew me off, and low and behold, there was the card listed again the next week. I won it that time for even LESS than the original offer I made to him.

My all-time favorite happened back in 2001. I was in Memphis at a card show, and a dealer had busted a box of 2001 UD Prospect Premieres. This was right after it was released - before they made it in the price guide. I picked up the stack and started pulling out certain players. I handed them to the guy and asked how much he wanted for them. He flips each card over and goes through the stack. "Are you trying to pull the wool over my eyes, boy? Every card you picked out is a player that was a 1st or 2nd round draft pick! Do you think I fell off the turnip truck yesterday?" I started laughing, called him a couple of choice names, and told him - "No, I think you were HIT by that turnip truck. EVERY card in that set is of a HIGH draft pick."

What an idiot.

All good stuff !

Yeah, getting second chance offers on ebay is risky...you never know if it was bid up by a shill bidder.

And thanks to ebay making bidders anonymous and making it near impossible to do any kind of meaningful research it will remain that way.

Had a recent seller say this to me upon offering about half of what he wanted a Jiovanni Mier 2009 Bowman Chrome Draft Refractor AU:

"These sell for way more than that, get a grip".

Needless to say I will never buy from this seller as no one should ever treat an interested buyer like that. As you may guess the card currently sells for about $5.00 less than my offer of about $17, and he has since had to relist the card about 4 times.
