when a player signs ttm for a donation, do you send cash or a check? which do you prefer? for example, with andre dawson, if i sent a check do i make the check out to andre dawson personally or to his foundation? i sent cash before to players when they only wanted $5-10 but some players like carlton fisk want $40, not sure if it would be wise to send $40 cash through the mail, your thoughts please. thanks

i send checks, if they say are doing it for a foundation i make it out to that foundation and make sure to say that in my letter, if they dont have a foundation i just ake it out to the player and tell them they can do with the money as they see fit to what ever foundation they are supporting.

Money order is a third option, but that would be much more time consuming than writing a check or putting cash in an envelope. If the cash is well-concealed, and you drop the letter at the post office and mail to a business address or PO Box, I think you would have a pretty low chance of something happening. With that said, however, I have had some cards stolen out of a TTM auto envelope from my mailbox (letter was opened, with the cards missing), so it does happen. Check is probably the best bet. Good luck!

I like to use checks. Some charity donations are tax deductible so the cancelled checks serve as proof of donation if the foundation doesn't send you a receipt.
