I would have said Phillies....right up until the Dodgers unloaded Puig/Kemp. That all but assures that they will be making a BIG run at him.

I think he will end up with the Yankees. Even though George is gone they seem to like landing these big names. And he would be nearly perfect for Yankee Stadium.

The only way I see this happening is if they trade Stanton to the Dodgers.
An outfield of Stanton/Harper/Judge doesn’t seem to be likely.

Other....Red Soxs...Best regards, David
Never gave it much thought but if they destroy their budget and sign him, they could put Mookie or Benintendi in center and put Harper in a corner position. Sure JBJ would be traded or kept on as a fourth outfielder. Nice dream but it will not happen.

For both NY & Boston, he could end up playing 1st base? There are worse things in the world to have than Martinez or Stanton as your DH's.....

I would still lean towards the Dodgers or Phillies - but the options are there to not mess up the two big boys lineups.

I don't see him going to the Red Sox. Fenway is not as favorable to lefties as it is to righties, unless you can go the other way. Not saying Harper can't, but i don;t see the Sawx disrupting their chemistry to squeeze him in somewhere.
Yankee Stadium is notoriously great for lefty pull hitters, but unless Cashman is playing dog in the manger, they seem to be staying within their "budget." That is, until they sign Machado.
My guess is LA, both because the recent trade clears room and money and because Harper is from Las Vegas (Henderson, actually.) He might want to return West after spending the last few years on the east coast.
No matter what, it's been fun watching it all play out, including the other moves leading up to the present scenario.

Cant disagree with any of your assessments. I still think Harper goes to either the Dodgers/Phillies and Machado goes to Philly/NY. Depending on which one signs first - look for Philly to put a ridiculous offer on the table for the other one. If they miss out, may be a long time before they are able to back the Brinks truck up for anyone else......

I certainly don't think the Red Sox will sign him. Although it was fun thinking about Mookie, Benintendi, Harper, J.D. and Bogaerts as your top five.

I still think that even though the Cubs are not getting much ink about Harper, that they will be the one who signs him.

And give up on Jason Heyward?? NEVER!!!!!

Wonder if the commish is telling to delay their (Harper/Machado) signings as long as possible to keep MLB talk fresh in everyones head as we head into spring training????

I say he goes back to the Nationals in a surprise move.

Though the Yankees are a possibility...Boras has been telling teams Harper can play 1st base :)

Boras would tell teams he could play pitcher or catcher if he thought it would put another million in his pocket.......

As long as a team isn't bidding against itself, the price tag will only be insane, not clinically insane.

He should talk to Eric Hosmer and ask how has that worked out for him. Although it would be intriguing, there is no way he is going to SD.

LOL - that is a great point! But I am guessing that Mr. Hosmer doesn't complain a lot when he cashes that check every couple weeks.

I am honestly still holding out hope that the Phillies pull off the daily double and grab them both (Harper/Machado).

Well...if Machado signed there, who isn't to say that Harper won't do it as well!! In back to back seasons, the two biggest contracts signed were by San Diego.....

At this point, the Phillies should use the $$$ they didn't spend on Machado and go get Kuechel and Kimbrel on 1 year deals, and bust the bank on Harper. Lets just call the offer now -- 10 years, $310 million.

If the Phillies end up losing out on both Harper and Machado - it will be an epic fail of an offseason, regardless if it actually saves them in the long run.....

Two of the biggest free agents and I finally one signed by the Padres......wouldn't surprise me if someone like Giants sign him for one year! Best regards, David
