Why does this happen to HOT signers

hey guys, i had a question regarding players that i read on the success thread as currently signing, that dont sign for me, for example, there was a thread saying wade boggs is currently signing, with people saying he is returning cards fast and they are getting those cards back. so i write a letter to him and still no card back, same scenario for ryne sandberg and mark mcgwire, seems like a lot of people r getting returns, but i have no success. has this happened to anyone else? thanks for your input.

Who knows why, I'm also still waiting on Guerrero who seemingly everyone else got. I'm still having fun so I'm still at it though

There are no guarantees that you will get anyone player to sign for you. It's the chance that you take with this hobby. In the 20+ years that I've been doing this as a hobby, I've gotten players like Mays, Drysdale, Koufax, McGwire and others to sign for me. I've also been unsuccessful with players like Sandberg, Boggs, and others. The old rule of the hobby is don't send anything that you don't want to lose. Otherwise, have fun with it.

I sometimes send a pic that I don't mind losing and a notecard asking them if i can send cards. That way I don't worry about losing cards and if they say no i have a signed pic, but I've used it 2 or 3 times and it's worked, I just got Steve Sax and he circled yes so I'm waiting on the cards I sent. thanks guys, yes ive been collecting ttm for over 37 years, so i know the risk of sending and no gurantees, its just frustrating when you see people who you know sent requests AFTER you did, post that they got theres back!(frustrating that i didnt get mine, but happy other members r getting theres) for example, i sent mine a couple months ago and nothing, and one person posts, that they got theres back in 7 days AFTER i sent mine! so my thought was how can he sign theirs in only 7 days and not mine after 2 months!

I have been wondering the same thing. But I have to remind myself that it is a hobby. It is all fun.

It's all luck of the draw, with the ammount of requests they get, they can only get to a precentage of them.

I think you will get a different answer from everyone. I too have been TTMing a long time. I can tell you I am not happy about cards not coming back at all but that is a risk we take... Back in the 80's and 90's my cards came back to me signed or unsigned. Lately my percentages are in the toilet. This was my worst Spring Training as far percentage but nice in terms of players acquired....there is no formula as far as I can see...sometimes just pure luck... Good Luck

It also has to do with the time of year. Maybe you sent too late and they were on the way to ST ?

Yeah I agree, I think I have sent out 35 Spring Training this year and only 5 back....
I too have not gotten Sandberg, or McGwire or Boggs back and I think I was one of the first a year ago to not get Duke Snider RIP due to his health.
I wish I could at least get the cards back. I have had some people do that in the past if they are no longer with the team but few and far between.
Also hoping for Vlad, D Wright and Joba this year from ST.... but seems like March is coming to a close.

I've been disappointed with my spring returns, but we still have a few more days... Don't give up, you never know what will be in your mailbox tomorrow.
