i see people on here that have thousands of trades some as high as 4000 and im wondering how you do it. how do you keep that many trades straight? and how do you make that many? i think its awesome to be able to do that. im approaching 100 and i made like 25 last month and i thought that was alot but i mean some people make over 100 every month. im just curious as to how you guys do it.

I've been here a long time so if you take my average per month it's not that impressive. David K. makes tons of trades a month though:)

Some people have tons of trade bait to offer or will trade for stuff not on their want lists. Those with limited trade cards to offer have a harder time making deals I assume.

My best advice to not fall behind is as soon as a deal is confirmed pack it up and have it ready to go. If you let them sit that is just more opportunities to get behind or misplace something.

im horrible about that second part. i dont package up anything until right before i go to the post office. i get everything pulled and in a seperate pile once a deal is confirmed so there is no risk in me accidentily retrading it. but like today i was sitting here packing up 7-8 envelopes right before leaving for the PO. im bad about that and i really need to get better because at times ill have 15 or more sales going in one weekend and scrambling monday morning to get them ready to ship.

I used to be like that, trust me, if you take my advice it's SO much easier:)

i will for sure. im definatly trying to get better at it but its hard to break old habits. but right now i buy and resell to make money and hope to grow it into a full time job someday so if i want to do that i have to get better at getting them ready to ship no ifs ands or buts about it.

I sometimes fall behind on my sending out too.. I get caught up in work and what not and forget to go to the PO all the time.. Usually takes me like 3-7 days to get to the PO

I think what really helps in getting your Bench Points to grow is to collect more than one thing. If all your trading for is 1 or 2 players and only for cards you dont have you can really dry up the supply thats available here. Then trades slow down fast. I also think set builders can gain points faster than anyone especially those who basicaly trys to put every set together that come out. I rember when I joined in 2006, I hit the HOF status at one of the quickest paces at that time. Not sure if thats something thats still discussed or tracked but I want to say I hit it in 4-5 months. It also really helps when you gain a group of guys that know what you collect. When trading locally if I need something to finish off a deal and the guy doesnt have nothing instead of trading for say just any Jeter or Pujols I may take a larger lot of a 2nd or 3rd tier player that I know a guy here collects. The more cards I have of a player the more likely I am to make another trade.

agreed that branching out is the best way to get more points. as for a group of traders here i will say that i find the members here to be far friendlier then any other site. scf has some of the rudest members i have ever met. i posted a thread looking to buy to resell and immediatly 2 members on scf posted to tell me how people like me are ruining selling for everyone and how i was unreasonable. i posted here tonight had a response within an hour or two from a great member who understood what i was trying to do and had a deal within a few hours that went so smooth it was unreal.

It's all what you are looking for really.. My trading has changed drastically.. When I first joined I was trading for players I liked no matter what it was with no rhyme or reason and then would end up trading that card again.. I hit the HOF after about a month and a half because I was just trying to make trades because I thought it was fun and at the time I was bed ridden from surgery.. Then I started player collecting and when that runs dry I start a new player collection or try to complete a tough set, not just a base set.. I always try to challenge myself as a trader and a collector and that makes this site so great.. You choose what you collect and what you want to make of your collection!

i used to be like that as well when i started trading. i started out on the old beckett message board back when beckett wasnt trash 6-7 years ago. there was no feedback system so i dont know how many trades i made there but i do know i made a lot and i used to trade just to trade. its cool because i had a lot of nice stuff pass through my hands but then again i had no purpose until i started collecting ernie banks. now i have a purpose and a goal so dealing here means much more to me. now i buy and sell to make money in hopes of growing it into a career as i said earlier. i enjoy getting good deals from members on here that genuinly are happy to help me out in my goal and i enjoy the fact that i am able to get tons of nice cards and sell them to members that appreciate them.

i'll tell you how i have been able to make a lot of trades...building sets!! :)

also having a fairly wide variety of easier to find cards that i need.

plus i have listed every single card i have for trade on my webs.

i keep my trades together because i have a slight case of organizational ocd.
