I thought that Topps only uses triangular stickers on 1/1's. Obviously, the crooks could buy 1/1's of Craig Counsell nd put that sticker on a Pujols base card - but the square stickers are just too obvious, correct?

Tim

Wow! That's a pretty bad fake! On that first one, it looks like that sticker on the case was peeled off and put back on. Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

nah topps uses square stickers also..I just checked some of my legit autos from topps and they have square stickers.

One reason the world is the way it is...too many people "stealing" other people's hard earned money! That kind of stuff makes me sick! These people that pull these scams, how do they sleep at night?! My wife bought a counterfiet Nolan Ryan RC a few years back, as a Christmas present...she ended up getting a real one too, but she felt so bad that she got scammed. Not her fault, and I would love to meet the person that sold her the fake. Honestly, I think I would enjoy beating it out of them...Anyway, the principal behind what these scammers are doing is terrible and I'd like to think it will catch up with them sooner rather than later.

Nice catch on that!

This card:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ALBERT-PUJOLS-0...0539625700?pt=US_Baseball&hash=item230cdc64e4

Actually shows the hologram number on back: 4819427

Anyone know how to look that up?

I brought up a similar incident regarding a Pujols 1/1 a couple of months back and actually emailed Topps to ask for information regarding the holo code.
This is what I sent:

I came across an auction for an autographed Albert Pujols card but I
have reservations on the legitimacy of the card. It comes with an
authentic hologram from your company. Can you tell me if the following
code matches any Pujols autos that you have issued?

4665323

Many thanks

and this is what they sent back:

Thank you for taking the time to write with your question, and please accept our apologies for any difficulties you have encountered while attempting to use our service.

Unfortunately Topps does not archive information of any kind on older released products. Once a product has reached its one year anniversary it is considered memorabilia, in which case all information regarding that product is maintained by memorabilia companies, such as Beckett.

We recommend visiting www.beckett.com or www.tuffstuff.com for any information regarding an older product.

Thank you once again for taking the time to write.

Sincerely,

Topps Customer Service team

Topps are very helpful!!

Not trying to bash the company instead of the forger, but this is pretty unacceptable by Topps. Cards such as the 1/1's are meant to hold some sort of value throughout time, as they are the only ones available. Keeping a database of the serial numbers - ie. which serials go with which cards - is common sense. Not doing so allows the forgers to continue doing what they are doing.

There is now no way to ever prove what the real 1/1 Pujols AUTOS are (or Aarons, A-Rods, etc.). Personally, if my player was in the 06 Bowman Originals product......I'd pretend like they didn't exist. Because Topps has neglected to protect its' customers from fraud, I'd steer clear of the product permanently. Even persons holding the real deals - pulled straight from packs - will have their cards come under fire because of all of this.

If you look on the full page of Ebay Suggestions nearly every one of those cards (with the exception of the Triple Threads) is questionable at best. Very sad.

I like how you listed those..Look below this thread and you see my other thread of 3 more of the same 1/1 from turkey red product. If you want make a seprate thread and list those with these like you did here.

I sent the sellers a message....let's see what happens...

I also reported the items to ebay so that they can pull the listings. It's not fair that someone is going to be ripped off by these people. Also who bids over $100 on an item by a seller who has a 0 feedback....smart right?

So the seller with Zero feedback got back to me and said they bought a large collection and that card was part of it. They think it might have come from the Topps Vault (No it didn't haha). Those cards come with proof that they are from the Vault.

Also the other seller who is selling the Pujols wrote me back and they seemed confused right now. So I sent them the info of the other listings. Can't wait to see how this one turns out.

OMG i hear that story like that every time i contact one of these clowns. They all ways say they bought a large collection or they came from the vault.I hate sorry ass scamming people like this!

Unbelievable on those auctions! How many of these are going to surface before people stop buying them?

I spoke with Cardfreak again about his Pujols. He said, and just like the other guy, he bought it in an auction near his house and was told it was real so he never questioned it. So he is upset because he isn't sure if his is real or not.

Topps needs to do a better job at keeping their hologram numbers stored forever so that people can make sure their card is legit. So good job Topps!
