I had a strange urge to rip some packs today. I don't buy new wax anymore and I occasionally get the urge to open something. I usually buy a few packs or find and older oddball box to open.

Today I went on a small buying spree and ended up opening everything this evening after I got back from my card store trip. In addition to the wax, I bought some other cheap stuff. I love shops that just have bargains laying around the entire store instead of the new shops that have expensive wax, singles and nothing fun. A shout out to DJs Sportscards in Renton, WA for having one of the best shops around these days. I drove over 1 hour one way to get there and it was worth it!

I'll show off the "hits" from my wax spree later. Bear in mind these were cheap boxes, for fun. I didn't really even expect to "recoup" my costs because the stuff was basic, run of the mill boxes. It was the best of the cheapest. Everything but the wax boxes and the singles in the last scan was $1 and the 2 BKB cards, which were 25 cents each. I'll rip open the SLUs, all but Jones and Glavine. There is one other item I got, which warrants it's own post later as well. Enjoy.

As I said, nothing too exciting. The Zenith box was decent, beat the odds on the RRC at 1:72 packs, too bad it was Rhett. The Rice Z Team was sweet. A couple FDI cards that at least were semi-decent names and not dirt commons too. All and all, worth it just to satisfy the itch. Now back to a strict no-wax diet!

I was at one time trying to complete that set. If I already had the Rice, he would be available. If not, I am going to add him to the pile and hope to complete it some day.

I'll try to find them tomorrow and let you know.

Very cool stuff. There used to be a card shop around where I live that used to have stuff like that, with discounted older packs and a pile of $5 boxes, as well as some discounted vintage like those you found.

Sadly, it closed a couple years ago, another casualty of the hobby I guess, but it is good to see that some of those type of card shops are still up and running!

Looks like you had some fun busting all those packs. Any chance you pulled this one?

I bought that book with you in mind. If you need it, it's on hold for you.

Nope. The best Golden Rainbow cards were shown. I didn't do too well there unfortunately.

was that a 1976 nolan ryan for less than $5.00??? jealous. that was a really good stadium club box. starting line-up stars for $.99 reach, think i will catch a flight to seattle.

The shipping would kill any deal that might be gained here. I'm willing to move them, as I already have both and I didn't open them yet, if you still want them after shipping. They are not in perfect shape either, if you are a perfectionist with these unopened SLUs

If you haven't ripped the SLUs, I'd triple your money on the two Thomas ones you picked up. :)
