Cracked open a couple blasters (and about 10 jumbo rack packs) of Series 2 2011 Topps tonight and pulled some interesting Diamond Anniversary cards...

80 Jackie Robinson
393 Jim Palmer
510 Hank Aaron

I figure these are counterparts to the short prints in series 1 and 2, but the Robinson in particular caught my attention - aside from the silver border, the card background is yellow except for Jackie and the base he's about to step on. Couldn't find any numbering so I don't think it's a canary diamond card, but I'm just not sure.

Tell me what ya think! (Sorry for the bad pic, I took it with the cellphone)

Thanks,

Nice break! Plus thanks for letting us know the retail topps II is out! Don't know if thats a canary diamond card. Did you check with the ebay auctions? Best regards, David

I did a search using "canary diamond anniversary" - all that came up was jewelry, so no luck there.

I'm guessing the yellowish feature from Robinson Diamond picture is from the sand behind him, giving it that glow. It was the same with the Diamond Series 1 Freddy Sanchez (#260, I think).

I did notice that there are diamonds of the legends in Series 2, I really like the photography on them, especially this Honus Wagner one!

Also, are you doing the set? I have some extra base from some packs yesterday if you have any extra base for trade.

Yeah, the silver border is the giveaway (plus the lack of that 1/1 stamp). Wanna bet somebody tries to pass a "regular" Robinson Diamond off as a canary, though?

I've got a fair amount of base - I'll PM you my needs and you can do the same. Thanks!
